    Philips 42PF7321D/37 Plasma Seeking help and direction

    Hello to all,
    I recently joined the forum in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction.

    I own a 2006 Philips 42PF7321D/37 plasma which I rarely used, the set was operating fine with absolutely no issues and now the unit do not power on.

    I have searched, read and looked into the most common issues with this unit being the capacitors going bad and having to change them.
    My issue now that I have removed to back cover to expose all the PCB to exam all the common issues area and found all of the capacitors are perfect(visually) no bulging state.
    I also checked for any loose pins/connectors and any other obvious signs like burned out fuse and found none.

    I am suspecting at this point that the power supply board is burned out, if so what are my choices at this point?

    P.S. unlike most common issues related to/with this unit I have had absolutely no issues prior to the unit not turning on at this point. Perfect picture, no blinking lights, audio is perfect. No tardiness on shutting off or on.

      A service manual for your set can be found here you can follow the trouble shooting step to locate the failure. The good news is replacement boards for your set are available and are relatively cheap on shop jimmy.

          thank you, I have already DL the service manual and I'm getting my hands on a meter to check out the various readings from the transformer and capacitors.
          At this point I am suspecting the power supply board given that I had no standby light when the unit stopped working.
          I just wanted to make sure this was the issue before ordering the new board.

              OK, just be careful when poking around inside a plasma. Plenty of spots on the power board have several hundred volts present including the tops of some heatsinks. Happy hunting

                  The power supply board has been removed and all the main capacitors have been discharged at this point. I'm just wondering if this is the real issue and not something else according to the service manual.

                      How did your voltage testing go? Usually if I have no standby power I start by checking all the fuses. If they test good test the bridge, then primary MOSFETs, then onto secondary diodes and MOSFETs. If those test OK start unplugging harnesses to see if I can get the standby to come back. I know this isn't set specific but a lot of the time the basic troubleshooting works.

                          Dunno if its the same set/PSU, but worth hunting out and replacing the cap, C2508, 100uF 16V surface-mount electrolytic, this causes the dead symptom many times on Philips Plasmas...

                              thanks for the input Alastair E. I'm still in the process of checking out the all the Caps for their operating values. I have already located a replacement Power supply board just in case the issue is not related to the caps. There are plenty of refurbished around 45-99 shipped.

                                  Thanks to everyone for their input. I finally got around to testing all the CAPS and found 2 that were visually intact yet out of spec. Both of the replaced caps were well less than half of the uf rating. I was able to find the same value CAPS at Frys elect and replaced them with ease. The Plasma fired up with no issue ( so far ) I am currently going on 2 days with out any issues. The standby works fine, no delay in powering up or down.

                                      I picked up this TV from Facebook Marketplace, original owner described it as "screen went black after a pop" and I hoped to see an obvious fuse or cap to replace. Doesn't seem to be the case, but my experience and electrical knowledge are kind of limited for this.

                                      The power board (BN44-00445A, see attached) turns on and Vs and Va seem to momentarily have power, then they steadily drain to zero over a minute or two as if they're only getting power from capacitors. I've been measuring Vs and Va from the test pads, with and without the other boards connected to the power board...

                                      I bought a SH Philips 55OLED804/12 TV with known defect in an attempt to repair it for personal use.

                                      The symptoms when bought: Philips logo appears then tv turns off

                                      Things tried so far:

                                      1. Powering it on: Philips logo shows on the screen, sometimes with some minor artefacts then shuts down. Red status led flickers rapidly into two batches then repeats
                                      2. Put it in recovery mode by pressing joystick down then plugging it to mains: The tv shows the logo then shows the android animation along with some minor artefacts on the screen...

                                      Hello, guys!

                                      The same 32" Philips TV I was having video issues, but now I don't have standby led at all. Someone here shared with me the schematic of the power supply, and checking the voltages, I see right after the resistor R604 I'm getting 1.6 v which is too low for enabling the Gate of the Q601 mosfet (the diagram says 4.2). On the R614 resistor I'm getting 181 V in and 117 V out, then through R603 I'm getting the same 117 V in and 59.9 V out, finally getting the latter voltage in the R604 BUT getting just 1.6 V out, which is the voltage that goes on to the Gate of the Q601...
