Re: Toshiba 40RV525RZ-No Power/Standby-Power Supply Help!

I believe I did that again last night and still got low readings??

Edit: I was up till about 3am with this thing so my memory was off. Just tested it and got 125-130DCV on the B+ and primary ground. That's the range we're looking for, right?

Re: Toshiba 40RV525RZ-No Power/Standby-Power Supply Help!

I tested the main caps again and one I got about 215DCV and the other one was just under 100 at about 90-95DVC Can only get about 300-306DVC and I know it should be 360DVC Is this norm, right on track with what it's suppose to do with the TVS out or another sign of something else?

I need the DC voltage on the between the two test points that I have shown in the picture, B+ and the primary ground, it should be around 320~340VDC (if the AC input is 120VAC).

"Can only get about 300-306DVC" so at which test point you are getting this 300~306VDC?

Tested the B+ and ground again and can only get up to about 95dc I tested the two main filter caps to get that. One was over 200 and the other one was under 100.

I still can't get anything on that 2 test point on the 120vac but I do get 120vac on the ac connector pads.

You are not doing some thing right, what you are getting does not make sense at all and I am about to give up on this thread.
Since the lamp does not light up any more, I would say, put the new fuse in place, leave the TVS out and put everything back together and see if the TV will power up.

Nvm, I got up to about 350-355. Forgot to put the bulb on the fuse connectors.

Popped new fuse in and it didn't blow, however still no standby and won't power on with buttons or remote.

Just a note, I believe this TV uses a voltage doubler circuit for a half-bridge converter, so the total capacitor voltage should be 2x what you'd expect. The capacitors are wired in series. For the 230V models they omit one of the jumpers though I wouldn't expect them to sell a PSU like that in a 230V country as Europe (the biggest customer) is very strict about PFC.

Well. as you can tell I'm still learning and make mistakes but....Thanks to Bud Martin, I have successfully got the tv to power back on!! Batteries were dead in the remote they gave me, turned it on and got signal from buttons on the side.

I assume, replace that TVS and all should be good to go!! Thanks again for not giving up on the thread, I know it was a headache with the mistakes I was making. Thank you very much sir!

You got that right!!!! Bud saved me for real. I couldn't find a replacement board ANYWHERE. I have an LED tv with same issues that looks WAY different(SMPS) than anything I've seen yet and fuses are OK. May try to track that issue down tonight instead of ordering a board if I can help it. Just not sure Bud wants to help my confusing ass out anymore LOL

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Argon SA1 audio amplifier power-supply - fuse blown after fixing the short?
                                            by Babbar
I found a project in the electronics trash yesterday. A nice Argon SA1 audio amp with some electrical issue. Took it apart and saw that the 4A250V fuse was blown so started lifting components to find the short. Eventually got to two MOSFETs (model FTA14N50C) that are shorted and when i took them out the short was gone.

Now i didn't have any replacements of the same model of course but i found a couple with pretty similar spec i thought (K10A60D & K12A50D) and put them in. Also replaced the blown fuse with a 3.5A250V one. Checked another time for short circuit and plugged it in....

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

                                            Hello,

Looking for next steps on troubleshooting for an external power supply made by EDAC, model EA11011H-120. The power supply was dropped onto a tile floor and initially and briefly worked but the led power indicator light faded out and the power supply showed no signs of life since.

In disassembly, I found that the large capacitor had leaked and was reading open when measured. The fuse nearest to the AC in had also blown, with no continuity. I ordered a new capacitor and fuse and replaced both, but on power-up with no load the fuse immediately blew.
