Sony KDL46W2000 standby light flashing 3 times.

So I managed to buy this tv off someone from here asking for help in trying to fix it and I can understand why their thread went dry, the BE board is shot, 1) a connector socket has been broken off, 2) it's had work done and I wouldn't exactly say it's any good either, it looks like two fuses have been bridged so it's a case of a replacement BE board so I ask, where would be a good place to start looking for a replacement? Ebay has a selection of boards and I'm drawn to one for a 40W2000, would that be compatible do you think?

    Board numbers are: 1-871-229-12 a-1196-582-c

These are what I have found on the bay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_od...29-12&_sacat=0

The one I'm looking at ends with "D", where as mine ends with "C", I know Sonys can be fussy about board changes so would this matter? thanks, Andy.

Any ideas on the above please?

Decided to check all the voltages, firstly for the PSU. all check fine and then the BE(main board), it seems the bottom two thirds are dead, no voltages seen anywhere hence the error code and I think I've located the reason why but I can't be sure, it looks to be IC 1CY103 made by sharp: http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...Q1CY1032Z.html, checking voltages from PIN 1 through to PIN 5 measure:

        1)18v, (Vin)
        2)0v, (Vout)
        3)0v (common ground)
4)0v, (Oadj) I'm not too sure what this means but could be an oscillation adjustment,
5)6.4v, this is for soft starting.

As you can see Vout is showing as 0v(this leads all the way through the central part of the board), I'm sure there has to be an output here although Oadj may have something to do with this, I just don't know, if you help please it would be much appreciated, thanks.

What I'm asking is does the absence of Oadj make a difference to Vout? Tom66 maybe?? if not then I would have to say the IC is faulty, I would also like to ask again, it has been said Sony Tvs can be fussy about replacement boards, so is it worth the risk in trying one from the 40" version? thanks, Andy.

            OADJ = Output ADJust.
            This should be approx 1.25V.
Note since softstart voltage is HIGH, the IC should be on (switching.)

            Two possibilities:
            - Bad IC
            - Shorted output (diode or load)

You can narrow it down with a scope. With a shorted output you will see infrequent, stunted pulses on the output. Defective IC - no pulses. Without a scope you'll just have to lift parts until you find the bad one.

For as long as the tv stays on, which is about 8 seconds, I see no pulses from Vout, I tried warming it too to try and get some kind of response but nothing, so I guess the IC is bad, if I can ask, if I had Oadj at the voltage stated, then Vout should show some kind of response? if I get a chance I'll lift it tomorrow and have a look, thanks.

Oadj is the result of Vout - not the other way around. It's how the IC knows if the output is in regulation. Usually there are is a resistive divider feeding a fraction of Vout into Oadj.

Did you ever get this tv going?

Hi Azza, no, not yet, it's stored away for a rainy day but it definitely needs a new main board as described above, of course I have no idea on the state of the rest of the Tv until I have that main board so with any luck it's just a simple change and will cure the issue. I keep looking periodically for a replacement but they are quite rare for this Tv so another similar board is going to have to suffice.

Hmm, I might have a 40" W2000 board from a set with a cracked screen? I'll check, it is at a friends house. PM me if you are interested.

Been a while but finally decided to get the board for this, all now working and a good picture it is too, had to get a a board for the 40" version as the 46" just isn't available, all appears to work just the same, £55 for a 46" tv, can't be bad.
