    Re: Smd fuse replacement

It's gonna be hard to measure the voltage of the cap cause there are a ton of ribbon connectors and regular harnesses that plug into the main board and the cap is on the bottom of the board.

Then try to find out where the traces are going to. I bet you can find a spot which easier to access.

Also when I replaced it I just looked for one similar in size. Cause it didn't have any markings on it.

          Mmh, not good.

I bet there other caps in parallel with that one but elsewhere on the board. Worst case I would remove one of those, measure them and replace the damaged one with the same value. I'd say they could be anything between 100nF and 1uF.

How do u measure what size cap they are.

Often multimeters have a capacitor measurement option built in. In theory you could also estimate it by connecting it in series with a resistor and measure how long it takes to charge to a certain value.

It won't give you good results for a small capacitor value and no scope, since then you will have to choose a high resistor value.

You could also connect it in parallel with a known inductance, excite it with a voltage and see what it's resonance frequency will be. Still needs a scope. :-)

so i looked at the circuit the cap was on and I cant seem to completely trace it. But i metered it and it showed 1.87v. I checked the two other caps that look like is in line with that one as well and their getting the same voltage. I dont know if maybe this cap could be the main cap for the other two and is supposed to have more voltage or something. Im gonna try to get a hold of a capacitance meter to read the other good caps.

                  64PN5500 | BN44-00618A Main fuse keeps popping
                  by nickgronk
Power supply board BN44-00618A keeps blowing main fuse and nothing plugged in to it.
I was gifted a 64PN5500AF, picture was amazing, but tv smelled like cigarettes and was dusty AF. I opened it up, blew all the dust out of it, removed PSB & main, and cleaned the metal underneath. Also blew all the dust off all other boards. Put the power supply back in, then mainboard. Soon as I turned it on there was a "pop".
                  The main fuse (T12AH250V) blew
I removed the power supply to be sure nothing underneath, all good. Soldered on a t12ah250v fuse and sure enough it popped...

LG 47LB5DF blown power supply board

                  Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum. So my trusty 17-year-old LG 47" LCD recently died. As I was booting it up, I heard a hum followed by a loud bang, sounds of pieces flying around, and loss of power to the unit. Inspecting the PSU, I saw two obvious problems: a blown thermistor (bang + flung pieces) and a visibly bulging main cap. Inspecting as many components as I could with my Fluke MM, I diagnosed that the following components on the "hot side" of the board were also bad: one of the 2 main MOSFETs, main 8A fuse, small cap (25V 47uF) connected to main caps, and a blown...

                  Replacement Fuse - 980TI Gigabyte
                  by whc14765
                  Hi,

I have a GIGABYTE Windforce 980TI with a blown fuse. I have already found the root cause for the fuse blowing.

I need help getting a replacement fuse - I'm fine with waiting some time for some cheap ones from China.

The fuse says 10A on it. And I'm not sure what package size it is exactly. Also, how do I know if it is a fast or slow fuse?

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
                  by tuner2000i
                  hello everyone,

I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.

The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

                  LG 37LS5600 blows main fuse
                  by dimis7
                  Hi all,

Need some advice to troubleshoot this TV.

PSU blow the main fuse F100, 3.15A.

I replace the fuse with another 3A (but not ceramic) and blows it again after few seconds when i plugged in to the wall, with nothing connected to PSU, just the power cord.

I checked with DMM for dead sorts but didn't found any.

Checked bridge rectifier and seems ok.
Also check main filter cap with transistor / cap / esr tester (the usual cheap transistor testers from ebay) and found ok.

                  PSU p/n is EAX64405901 (1.6)...
