Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions

I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors (2701 at R43 and R44) where really hot even though the panel was not working.
I measured their resistance and they were about 5% lower than what they should have been (around 2400-2500 ohms). I didnt think this was too egregious but for good measure I was prepared to replace them as I didnt know if that was enough to cause the TV not to startup.

Before I did set out to change them out I disconnected the flex cable from the mainboard and measured again.
I was surprised to find that the resistance had gone back up to within +/-1% spec.

Can anyone explain the two phenoms to for me?
    1) Why the resistors were running hot even though the TV was not displaying an image (yes there is a short somewhere on the panel but Im expecting the mainboard to cut power to the panel or something).
    2) Why the resistance of the two resistors dropped when the flex cable was connected to the mainboard.

I was able to isolate and mask off the one trace that was causing the bootloop but i was never able to get any picture even after several rounds of carefully masking off other traces.
I gave up on the panel but questions still linger on my mind about the facts of the case.

    Thanks in advance

Can anyone see the attached images ?

What is the blinking code of your TU8000

    Been told at https://www.reddit.com/r/TVRepair/co...t=share_button

The double blink code means there is a communication error in the tft portion of the display.

May this help, I am also trying to troubleshoot a UE50TU8005KXXC that ships a CC500PV6D

Your UE50TU8005K is probably similar to North America model UN50TU8000

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mm5zQSD_DM

which has T-Con on main board, single flex to left panel board, flex from left panel board to right panel board. This kind of T-Con connection doesn't allow testing of left and right panel board independently so finding which side of the panel is shorted is difficult.. If fault is in left panel baord, there is no way to disconnect it and just test the right panel.

I think have isolated the short
It is the right side, I had to cover pin 1 and 2 with tape to stop the reboot loop.. but I have no idea of the pinouts of the middle cable that connect both side of screen

        SFPCX465G-002_20086

On the left side ( SN2 near SCOF1), I had to tape pin 1&2 (on right side of connector) to enable boot to sound

I keep seeing these short killer devices and techniques on youtube. Wonder how good the success rate is.

This one is interesting but it's not in English, looks like he's very knowledgeable on how everything works together and where to test. Someone with lots of patience and determination could probably learn where to test and maybe pinpoint the short and kill it without damage to screen hopefully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZf10JQlvfE

Maybe all new samsung tvs should come with one of those included.

If anyone looking on has had success in this area, let us know, it's mildly interesting no?

General Questions on the Relationship Between Mainboard, TCON and Panel
                      by mmartell
My goal here is to be able to use boards on hand to swap into faulty sets when the faulty board is not obvious.

I will start by asking what is the format of the output from the mainboard and is it generic in any way or does it vary by manufacturer and/or model ?

And as far as I know a tcon and panel must be a matching pair because the timing of the signals and the voltages required to drive the panel are specific to the panel itself. (That may be a blanket statement that isn't true in some cases where the panel creates its own sub-voltages on its panel boards?)...

Bad panel or bad mainboard? Visio E601i-A3
                      by knoxrebel
                      Visio E601i-A3
Tv powers on and input is able to be selected/used, but the on screen menu closes as soon as it is opened and the there are some periodic "glitches" of the on screen menus in relation to position and size. I have tried all the system resets, but because the menus are not usable, i was unsuccessful. Does this seem like a panel issue? Odd that it only affects the menus and not the main input picture. I have already tried disconnecting front panel buttons assuming one was stuck down causing the input to continually be scanned or similar.

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
                      by stylishconsultant
                      Hi All,

                      Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....

Those I managed to find on the T-Con board. Does it seem normal?
