It's fine if the backlight comes in only through the rear holes. That indicates it is on and that's all that's important for now. Have you checked T-con fuse and 12V to T-con?

T.con fuse is good as is the 12v supply, its as if the main is giving out a black screen, if i unplug LDVS then the screen goes white with the backlight showing though, so thats were i am at for now, will up date when i have more to tell, any clues from anyone just jump in Thanks Flocko

Some of these Sony sets will have the tab bond problem that can cause no picture with backlight. I've had a few of them but I'm not entirely sure about your set though.

i dont think its tabs, some thing on the main is my bet and i had one and sold last year, now when i need one nobody has any, Flocko

To confirm if T-con is working, you can check VGH, VGL, VCOM, AVDD and GAMMA voltages on T-con.
If you have a scope you can confirm if main board is sending video to t-con.

i will check those points on the T.con some time tomorrow and will list it up on here for you to see, but no scope never needed one before.will have to keep an eye out for one Flocko

You can get a very decent Rigol DS1074Z now for around £440 or you can buy an older analog scope for around £50.

I am selling my old Rigol DS1102E to upgrade to the DS1074Z, amazing how much more you get for only a little more (I bought my 1102E at £315 incl VAT and delivery.)
