Panasonic TH-50PX80U No Analog but has digital channels

    Hello.

I picked up a Panasonic TH-50PX80U that supposedly was hit by lightening. It turns on and seemed to work perfectly. I then programmed the "CABLE" channels and it finds all the digital and HDTV stations and picture is perfect. But it only found a couple analog channels. So if I switch to a known analog channel (History for example), I just get static. I have not encountered this before.

Did the lightening strike take out part of the analog circuit? am I missing something obvious that I need to do to tune in the analog stations? I am using the cable input on the main board as an FYI.

    any suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Joe

Analog OTA (over-the-air) TV was turned off in the US a few years ago apart from a couple of local broadcast stations. Only digital OTA works now.

Check HDMI ports. Common fault on these models after surge damage.

      Hi Tom,

I think I did not explain correctly. i am using my cable tv connection (without a box) and used the coax input on the main board. I then did the auto program. It found over 100 digital stations but no analog stations. After it is was done, I get HD stations and basic digital. But as an example, channel 25 with my cable provider is history channel (not HD though). Same with channel 33 which is AMC (again not HD). These channels come in on other TV's I use or test. But this TV will just give me static on these channels, while the other channels (including HD) come in fine.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
        by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings
        by AquaMan Ua
Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...

        Denon 3313CI Distorted Audio FL+FR
        by ajvpb
        Hi all,
Hobbyist repairman here so I've reached the end of my troubleshooting abilities. The audio out of the FL+FR speakers is very distorted and almost unintelligible. BUT! That only applies to digital audio; Analog plays through just fine. The distortion carries to headphones if those are plugged in with audio from a digital source. All other speaker channels play fine regardless of digital or analog.

Previous experience with similar distorted audio has been bad resistors on the amp output - Could bad smd resistors on the hdmi board cause the same problem? My understanding...

Sony STR-DE445 did I get a faulty IC?
        by goodpsusearch
Hello, I got this AVR for cheap and tried to fix it as a fun and learning project.

First the audio video receiver would turn on but had no sound at all, but no "PROTECT" message.

So, I opened the metal case and noticed some marks showing that some liquid has been spilled on the amp. Those water marks were found on the main board and the digital board.

I disassembled everything, then checked every single cap on every board of the amp and recapped when needed.

Also fixed A LOT of cold solder joints and also done some modifications,...
