I wouldn't bin it, I see these go on ebay for around £50 with Y-sus faults so I'd stick it on there and maybe someone else will invest the time into fixing it. But they really are a pain in the arse to fix when the IPMs fail.

Ok tom thanks for your help throughout. ill take a peek at manual then if no good ill sell. how annoying brand new remote just turned up today lol

just seen ubuntutorials video of a set same as mine with identical fault. I also have bulging caps and AC D foobed , Is it worth replacing these before as a last ditch . i know on the set he was on the an IPM was knackered in the end but if it hadnt have been would have been a cheap fix.

      what you think/?

That's my channel. That one turned out to have a bad er ipm as well as bad caps. I think the er ipm was main issue.

oh wow was that you tom ! sweet. if the ipm hadnt have been bad would replacing the caps have resolved the issue? how did you find out ipm was bad ? did you replace the caps etc and was still bad.?

              Re: LG 50PC1DA problem

Once we had the caps replaced tv clicked on but the screen just flickered every second or so accompanied by a clicking sound from the er ipm.

Turned out I was checking ac detect wrong and there was no fault with that.
