OK, so the power light is lit at this time?
When you press the power button, do you notice any change in voltage on 15Vs or 15Vc? Also, does F-STBY-ON control signal change? You will have to turn on/off set for each measurement.

No the power light was not lit, it is only lit when i reset the tv. When i press the power button i noticed no change in measurement. I did the reset procedure and again tested the measurement and noticed nothing different really. STB5V-ON was 0.01 and 0.02 for a while.

        My tc-p42s30 wont start
Stby5v is okay, set clicks when plugged in.
Switch On: tv clicks on then off, power LED goes solid red
Proper voltages on connector P6 except pin5 (labelled STBY5V_ON) which starts low but doesnt go hi when TV On switch is pressed
        At shutdown, con.P6,pin4(SOS4-PS) goes high
        I'm thinking itis the a board-any opinions?

Check for shorted out Vsus at SN2, or disconnect SN2 and try turning on.

Shutdown but No Blink code - Power LED stays on (Check for Shorted Vsus* / Vda** / P15V).

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S30 Not Turning On

            Thanks for your help

Symptoms are same if ss,sn connected or not, no shorts in Vsus P15v,Vda.

            when first plugged in:
all voltages are correct, relys click on then off after 10 secs.
            5Vstby stays on
            No power LED!(?)

            When switched on:
relays clickon for 1/4 sec,Vsus,Vda,P15V,F15V go on, then go off with the relays.Panel_Main_On goes and stays on till unplugged.SOS4_PS goes hi snd stays on till unplugged
Also STNBY5V_ON (P6,pin#5) never comes on-According to document 2011Plasma.pdf from earlier in this thread,STNBY5V_ON (or tv_sub_on) is signal from A-board to PS to turn tv on
This is why I suspect A board
            Any ideas?
            Thanks

These newer sets sure sound tricky. No I'm a little confused now. originally yo said LED goes solid RED which is what happens with a short on startup. SOS4 high I would of thought means SOS4 fault detected.

I wonder if these lock out, maybe press and hold the power button down on the TV and see if it goes 14 blink then try startup again without the SN/SS.

Any chance you measured the SN2 or SS11 at the boards to see if shorted.

Have you got the 2011 plasma guide for the ST30, hoping that can be used for this in fault finding.

              This remark was in there.

The delaying of the power LED blinking reaction by 10 secondswhen the SC/SN board is isolated.

there is a flow chart for the no LED as well. Strange one so very unsure what to suggest.

Also with the SN, try disconnecting the SN20 ribbon as well.

This guide is slightly different so unsure if it will apply because i don't think your LED goes green but maybe try page 29 for the U30 which is probably closer since I think the S30 is FHD not 3D.

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S30 Not Turning On

looking at it a bit more, I'm leaning towards 15v overcurrent so it may turn out to be A board. I'd exhaust all other tests first and maybe do the resistance measurements as per the guide and post the results up.

Another thing which may give a quick indication would be to disconnect SN2,SS11,P35 and the 3 white ribbons out of the A board and powerup.

what happened with each step of slide 61?

                did you confirm this?

To confirm that the TV is on Locked Mode, 1st, press the power switch to turn on the TV, then when the LED turns on, press the power switch to turn the TV off. If the LED stays on, the TV is on Locked Mode but if the LED goes off, then the symptom is different (Like no video or black screen)

                  My Friend
I got it to blink 14 times using your advice-thanks
Slide 61 tells me to swap out a-board, check Vsus,P15, which are ok till tv shuts down
Unless you think it's a bad idea, I'm going to roll the dice on a new A-board
                  Will post as events dictate
                  Thanks

                  Isn't fixing stuff fun?

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P42S30 Not Turning On

So what you're saying then if following the chart, you disconnected SN2,SN20,SS11 and you got blinks.

That does make me suspicious that the 15V to the SN at SN20 may be low resistance.

What I'm unsure about then is how if you get blinks it says anything other than 6 replace A but check Vsus and P15V for short.

Can't be 100% 6 blinks is necessarily correct for that part.

Did you try reconnecting the SS and leaving both cables disconnected at SN?

I would be interested to see what resistance is on the SN at SN20 for the 15V going in.

Can't say replacing A is bad but suspicious because it seems to me with SOS4 being high at startup there's a power issue and it might not be a dead short but overcurrent and why the 15V is still showing?

I can't give clear guidance on this one, it will be interesting to see how you go with it.
