    Panasonic 3" Black Vertical Line

Hello everyone, I've got a problem with my Panasonic Plasma Viera TC-P46G15 TV. I bought this beautiful TV back in November of 2009, it was made in June of that year. I placed it in our cabinet and it hasn't been moved or abused since then.

About a year ago my wife notice a skinny thread-like line down the middle of the TV, from the top of the set to the bottom, hardly noticeable but present. Fast forward to last Sunday and now in it's place is a 3" solid Black vertical line!!

So I googled the problem and what a problem it seems to be regarding Plasma TVs. I remove the back of the TV and reseat the ribbon on the C-2 Buffer Board, no good, same black line.

Call the Geek Squad, they are Best Buy's repair/Help team. The guy I talk to was really knowledgeable and helpful. He tell's me it's usually one of two things. Bad C-2 Buffer Board, that's the ribbon that is giving me the problem is attached to. Go online and order one and try that, if that doesn't fix the problem, it's your screen and that cost more than I paid for my TV to begin with.

I order a Buffer Board from Amazon, $18.93 with priority shipping, received it last night. Replace board and same freaking black line! Is there any way to check to make absolutely sure that it's a non-repairable screen that is my issue? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading and sorry for rambling on so much. But I really love this TV!!

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Hisense LTDN40D36EU thin black vertical line
      by Raulnn
good evening!!! I have this tv with a line that occupies 1 or 2 pixels in width. it has a solution? Can you do a test to find out if it's a panel or something else? Having the tcon integrated into the panel makes everything difficult. I have pushed on the flex attached to the panel, on both sides and there are no changes. I don't know what else I can do... the integrated ones that go on the flex get hot, but without burning yourself if you put your finger on it. to see if someone can help me. I attached a detail photo of the line. Thanks in advance...

      Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
      by TrueSword88
      Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
      by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

1/3rd of screen black with occasional vertical lines - repair attempt for learning! - Kogan KALED58RT9220SVA

Thanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

The issues are as follows: the...
