    Samsung LE-40M87BD Screen Bleed?

Not sure if this is screen bleeding or what but in certain parts the picture can be seen through it

have tried a hair dryer from the outside just in case it was condensation or the likes but makes no difference neither does touching the effected area

any ideas? or just a bad panel with damage?

also there appears to be no impact damage anywhere, lady i got it off said the usual "it just went like that"

This is a common issue with this model and is unrepairable.

Also, I feel it's necessary to remind everyone that people lie, you cannot always trust them.

I think it's related to a defect in the bonding between the layers of the LCD but TBH I've never had one myself, just see it now and then on this forum and on ebay.

seems theres another fault with the psu

tv turns off after a certain ammount of time and turns itself back on

              caps?

Check READY in service menu... if set turn it OFF... From standby, Info Menu Mute Power on remote.

No further ideas then, other than to troubleshoot rest of PSU by heating/cooling etc.

                      Re: Samsung LE-40M87BD Screen Bleed?

heat makes no difference to the psu or main board

i've had a similar issue previously from a 32 inch model and found it was the main board causing reboots when powered up so i'm going to say it's the same here another bordeaux model too

if i remember right it was when the main board went cold it would happen (from startup usually) no idea about how this is seemingly getting cold when it is in operation

not worth my time or money to replace the main board

may try a rework on it later, some flux and a heatgun see how i get on

found out it is the mainboard unsure whether it's caps surrounding the processor or the processor itself

If i let the fault occur then heat around the processor the fault disappears until cold again and continues endlessly rebooting

just to follow up here with the fix (not for everyone)

decided against the heatgun and went for the oven instead

desoldered the shield hiding the processor/IC's give it some flux and wrapped the rest of the main board in some tin foil (made some foil balls to rest it on) let it bake at gas mark 4 for 15-20 minutes, let it cool and reassembled

TV no longer turns off after ammounts of time, left it on for 6-8 hours last night with turning it off and on in between and all seems good now

again probably not to everyones taste but easy way to fix cold solder joints (which i'm guessing was the issue)
