      Re: panasonic TH42P285B

If it has Freesat it will appear in the "TV" menu and also there is a satellite LNB input (coax connector) on the rear of the unit.

As for loose cable, just run set for a few days and see how it goes... it seems to be a common issue with them, the 46" I have had half blue screen and half blank due to loose cable.

This will give you an idea just How good/robust these PZ80 are...

Three weeks ago at work (As some of you may know, I work at local recycling place rebuilding TV sets for the re-use shop they've got there....)

I saw in (Completely the wrong skip) a familiar back cover of this 42PZ82B set. I was pretty sure it was smashed, but lifted it out anyway, thinking maybe good for parts. It was full of water from rain--I mean--FULL!

PDP looked intact, so after draining gallons (!) I brought it back to my W/S. There it sat up on end for a few days.
Removed the (very dented back, looked like Fred Astaire had been practicing on it) and cleaned most of the mud etc from the case/front.

The chassis after its impromptu bath was nice and clean, so left it in the sun for a few hours, to make sure it really was fully dried out.

--Thought --What the hell, Its dry now, Bung power to it--Always good for a larf if it blows up!

Fired it up, BBC1 came on bright and clear, even the sound was OK, been using it in the W/S since as its too scratched/banged up to sell on....

This afternoon--I found another, (in the correct skip) a great condition case, no apparent damage, and (Oddly) it ran after holding the CH_Up (+) function button down, so checked its records, 16K600 odd hours, last 4 errors SOS 10...

Turned off via front--now back to 10 blink, I guess I'll be pulling MC301 etc on Wednesday....

              Re: panasonic TH42P285B

They are indeed reliable sets. Great picture quality also.

Few weeks ago i picked up the same set. Owner said the panel exploded while watching tv. The outter glas was fine , the panel exploded from the inside. Owner said that the bang was VERY loud haha.
All parts except the buffers were still ok!
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!
