    Blue dotted line looks like panel fault to me, unfortunately. 10 blinks is an easy fix and well documented. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjpGKaBt8hg

        Blue dots don't appear over white. If you try grey you'll probably see some.
        If you can live with that minor fault you've got a VERY nice TV, I personally have 46PZ80 and 42PZ80 and love both.

          cheers tom i have ordered Panasonic m series thats all cpc had does the video show the polarity on the caps? would altering the voltages alter the blue line its visable too me but not to others lol dead center of screen looks a good set got to pick up the power lead and remote control from the people tmoz they actually dropped the set of to me not bad for a freebie thats 3 sets last week from 1 wanted add and a hdmi dvd recorder pity only analogue tuner though.

          tom have you got the correct manual for this set?

            For US version yes

            I doubt adjusting voltages will do anything.

              is it worth checking the voltages then as per panel sticker and adjusting if needed or leave alone? fans need a clean etc anyway and may check for other bad caps whilst in there so just needed manual to see test points etc.

                Vda is only voltage that might affect this and is fixed at 75V. Vsus and Ve do not effect it.

                  cool thanks will see how bad it is once replaced the caps. looks a nice set the time the picture was on i will keep this set myself i actually i don't sell any sets i get i just give to family/good friends they just give me the money for parts/remotes etc i just do this as a hobby and to learn etc.

                  tom slightly of topic which air duster do you use as freeze spray i have tried the pound shop laser brand does not seem to work to much fluid when upside down no white frost etc? any particular brand you have found thats good?

                    Looks like panel fault. I believe c boards present a high to the SS board and faults out on this condition. I may be wrong, but could be it.. Always present due to a defective driver IC, but may sometimes just not be enough voltage on the error circuit to allow the set to pass the error cycle check.

                      Re: panasonic TH42P285B

                      10 blinks is 99% PSU due to MC201/MC301 faults.

                      I have found the Poundland LAZER stuff to work fine, they don't have very much liquid in them, so use sparingly. Not as good as real freeze spray, of course, but that stuff costs an absolute fortune.

                            tom any way i think your having a laugh about soldering them capacitors on they are soooooooooooooooooo small hahaha but i will try a good light and borrow a good magnifying glass on a stand might help tom i have ordered normal caps as you suggested can i fix it on to the ic with a bit of hot melt glue? does the ic get hot.
                            2008 on the panel sticker so not that old at all.

                              all PZ80s are 2008.

                              TH..PV/PX50 = 2005
                              TH..PX60 = 2006
                              TH..PX/PZ70 = 2007
                              TH..PX/PZ80 = 2008
                              TC..10 = 2009
                              TC..2/25 = 2010
                              TC..3/30 = 2011
                              TC..50 = 2012
                              TC..60 = 2013

                              (the 60 series is Panasonic's last!)

                              The IC runs cool. But hot melt glue is too brittle for a warm power supply, I would use general adhesive instead.

                                  hi guys just to update this thread the job was a bit tricky some disassembly required to remove the whole psu and then the 2 boards to replace the two small capacitors i used ordinary leaded ones glued onto the ics and im glad to say the sets working great and the line in the center of the screen now seems to of gone for now. i cant see it all all so now i have a great looking 42in plasma in my lounge for the cost of two capacitors and my time as the set was free cheers tom for your advice as usual.

                                        It's plausible that blue dotted line is a loose LVDS cable, I'd keep it only together with 4 screws for a few days to make sure it doesn't come back.
                                        Yeah now you have me jealous, 42" PZ85 is top of the line model, does it have Freesat HD? Can't remember - my friend has PZ81 and that does.
