LG Plasma TV 42PT353A Fuzzy Picture no Sound

    Hello,
I currently have a 42in Plasma TV that I am trying to hook up into cable antenna. I've hooked up the cable to another tv screen and it works just fine, but when hooking up to this LG TV the picture is fuzzy and there is no sound. The cable hook up is also very different in the back of the TV. The previous owner of the TV actually had an adapter from the cable to the TV because a regular US cable won't fit and it still does nothing. I have no idea about these things and my friends are stumped...

Over the air signal are supposed to be HD nowadays. Older TV need a box to convert HD toolder TV. This being a HD TV then the tunner is probably ok. You probably have a week signal in to the set. Different sets maybe more or less sensitive to signal levels. I live in the sticks. My old TV works fine over the air but my HD TV needed a amplifier in line with the antenna signal for the HD TV to work good. I finally went to Sat. Tv. The unseen device may have been a Balum transformer.
If on cable box bypass the tunner use the HD outputs of box for Better signal.

Thanks for the quick response. So I figured out what that adapter was.. It's a European Cable adapter. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan so I'm pretty sure the signals are not HD. I will see if there is anything else that i can put on here to help.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
        by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
        by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
        by Ierwin
        Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

LG Plasma (PDP50R10101) No picture No sound
        by SluggerB
This is my first Craigslist freebie fix attempt. 50 inch LG Plasma TV Previous owner said over time it was struggling to turn on, it would take 4-5 times to turn on, the one day it just did entirely. I took it home and plugged it in, I her a click, then a second later another click, and nothing. Dead as a doorknob

So I took the back off and check voltages. The power supply appears fine, I checked the VS, VA, and 5V voltages and they all measured correct, on the power supply board and on the display boards (Y and X boards). All the fuses are fine
