    Vizio VL470M, White Logo, No Backlights, Sound, or Picture.

    The logo comes up white as soon as the set is plugged in. The PSU shows all expected voltages as if it's working as it should. Both fuses have correct voltages at both ends. All 1117 voltage regulators appear to be correct. The large regulators don't appear out of sorts. There is a 1122 regulator that I'm not familiar with.

    ADJ = 1mV
    OUT = 1mV
    IN = 89mV

    Right now, I'm suspecting EEPROM issues. Any thoughts? Is there any more testing I can perform?

    Is BL ON/OFF (INV_ON) going HIGH or not?

      No, but I can force the lights on with resistors.

        On the bottom of the board can you trace the track going out of "IN" on the suspect regulator?

          Here's a pic. The IN leg of the regulator comes through at the tip of my lead in the picture. I've tried to make a video. I'll post a link if YouTube lets me.

                It looks to me like the trace is buried in the board, so that is difficult to trace without schematic. All main board fuses OK?

                    All main fuses that I see check good. I rechecked the 1122 regulator and I'm seeing about .65V at the IN pin now. I would guess that really doesn'r make much difference.

                      Try seeing if (with set powered off) if there's an obvious short between IN and ground using an ohmmeter.

                        There doesn't appear to be. It starts at 0.000 but slowly climbs to .562k ohms

                          Hard without a schematic to see where that's going to, the best you could do is try ohming it out but there's hundreds of possibilities...

                            When comparing my main board

                            http://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-3647-...for-vl470m.htm

                            to one from a different 47" Vizio with the same PCB number

                            http://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-3647-...for-sv470m.htm

                            It looks like the section of the board that I'm focusing on is T-con related. If I can't figure out what's wrong with this board, this set may have to sit until I can find parts.

                              I bought a used board from a seller on eBay. it showed up with the co-ax connector on the tuner broken off. I emailed the seller for an exchange. They offered a $30 discount if I wanted to try to fix that board with the tuner from my board. I removed the tuner from my board and was kinda surprised to see burn marks at the back side of the co-ax input. I thought maybe the tuner was shorted and keeping the set from powering on. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. With the tuner removed, my board still doesn't work. I didn't think a $30 discount was enough to risk damaging the new board and considering the old tuner looks to be damaged, it looks like the old tuner wouldn't work anyhow. I'm guessing a lightning strike through the cable input took this one out. Pics attached.

                                You could have found the source of damage to the original board - power surge through tuner can. I would not use that tuner can either.

                                  Hi all! I've got a Vizio VO42L. Plug it in, and logo flashes orange/white for a bit, then solid orange. Press power, and logo changes to white. There is no backlight.
                                  From reading some of the posts here I thought the inverter could have been the problem, but I've replaced it and still have the same issue. I noted that shining a flashlight on the screen shows nothing, so now I'm thinking main board?

                                  I took the following readings with the TV powered on. I also tried taking the readings with the CFL connectors unplugged - no change.

                                  I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

                                  Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

                                  I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

                                  I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

                                  This Vizio came in the shop with no backlights. Replaced all the strips with replacement from Shop Jimmy. Set now has backlights but lights pulsate on left side. Half the screen brightens up then goes to normal then repeats.
                                  Am I looking at a defective strip? Thanks in advance.

                                  Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

                                  I have a Panasonic TX-48CX350B tv , it powers up ok but the screen is blank, the backlights are working, there’s nothing else though, no picture or sound. I’m not sure what the fault is called whether it’s BLANK/ BLACK/ or WHITE SCREEN I’ve actually came across this before on a similar tv but just ended up scrapping it, I will upload pictures of the boards etc , if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it...
