Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
Did you try Aaron's board yet? In many cases ShopJimmy will say no when they do not know. I have done lots of screen size swaps, basically the only major concern is 1080p vs 720p and getting panel sticker right (LG into LG, etc.)Leave a comment:

Aaronwt6 I did not think you meant that at all. I am glad you said something because who knows it could not have had it and i would have never known. Ha I will be first to admit that i only know enough to be dangerous.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
And mmoore5553, I certainly wasn't saying you didn't know what was going on but I've seen these things simply missing from the factory too so it never hurts to ask. I'd hate it for both of us if you got the board, it worked for a day or two, then died from overheating.Last edited by aaronwt6; 12-06-2013, 07:08 PM.Leave a comment:

It's well worth it when you get kind comments from people that do get their TVs going.Leave a comment:

And I think my small pile of boards is too much... I think there's 20 boards there... I probably should list them but I worry about return policy.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
I got 300 more on the way from a salvage place in a few weeks. If that one doesn't do it, I'll keep in touch if I happen to come across the 47" version. Who knows.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
yeah if people do not understand what that is then they should not be fixing things. I will let you know how it goes. If not i do not know where i am going to find one.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
I have tons of screws but I'd have no idea what's what. Yes, on the pad. That's what I was talking about. Make sure that sits back squarely on top of the chip when you install the new board. You can power it up to make sure it comes on but don't let it run for any length of time without the cover installed to prevent damage. I swear some of the boards I get back damaged were due to things like this. I've asked people about it before and gotten answers like, I thought that was just a spacer or cushion.
Anyway, board is headed out in the morning and I'll be looking forward to an update.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
I took a picture of the thermal compound. This is the first time i seen some like this as i am use to computer processor compound. I hope that is what you are talking about. Curious do you have screens for the stand ? I do not have them but i do have the base. Or do these not use screws ?Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
Worst case, it was $5.27 to ship and whatever it costs for you to ship it back.
Also, if I recall there was a large slab of thermal compound on the big Broadcom chip in the middle. Do you have that or do I need to send one with it? I see some of these have a heat sink but this one does not. It had the thermal compound and a cover over it that it heat sinks to. You definitely need to make sure it's heat sinked or it will die in short order.Last edited by aaronwt6; 12-06-2013, 05:51 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
I've also noticed that there is many more instances this works on with older sets. Seems the newer ones have less part sharing for different models. I had a bunch of old Samsungs a month ago and there were several interchangeable control boards from 40"-46"-52" models.Leave a comment:

Re: LG tv for 25 bucks
Tom,
Any idea if he can use that 52" Board on the 47"? I don't have the TV any more to check the panel number. It had a broken screen with only a partially visible image and is long gone.
Shopjimmy doesn't have it as a cross reference. I'm seriously doubting it'll work.
Given the semi custom dual LVDS (120Hz motion on main board) it is likely this series is designed for only LG panels.Leave a comment:

by Dev GooseHi everyone, I recently acquired an HP EliteBook 840 G4 (6050A2854301-MB-A01) that I'm hoping to bring back to life. I'm fairly new to laptop repairs but eager to learn and willing to put in the effort to understand and fix this. Any advice or guidance would mean a lot!
What Happened
The issue started when the laptop was accidentally plugged in with reverse polarity. Before this incident, the laptop would show a power/charging light whenever it was plugged in. However, now it's completely unresponsive—no lights, no power, nothing. I've been doing some research and understand... -

by Slim_BossHi,
I hope everything is alright with you guys.
First of all, thank you very much for the forum, they are fantastic, very informative.
I have read a few treread but I have a little problem when trying to program my BIOS.
Starting at the beginning, I have an Asus X55A-119X that needed to update the bios (for V.417), I started to do it, but my little son disconnected the laptop from the power when WinFlash was in the "erase" phase. In other words, the laptop has become a paperweight.
I don't have much experience in electronics, I study here and...-

by a316briefly, one usb-c port, when connect when OS running, or in recovery mode, stays on 5v and 000 amp. If I reboot ( or connect usb-c on shutdown state), it makes 20v andbegins charging, until first disconnect/connect.
*** on shutdown state, it makes 20v, charging stops after 4-6 seconds in rare case,, sometimes never stops. If not disconnect, it stay on 20v and charges even after OS boot. after disconnect/connect (ON state) it always stays 5v 000 amp
it is not software issue, it happens only 1 port. other ports including magsafe3 is ok
