Sony 46'' LED TV 7 Blinks Codes

Hi, I got a sony 46'' LED TV. It works for about 5-10 minutes then shut down. It shows a 7 blinks code meaning '' High voltage shut down''

Can someone explain me how to fix that?

HV shutdown would probably involve the LED drive voltage turning off for one reason or another. Pictures of the circuit boards in the set would greatly help.

Tv is not yet disassembled. Ill provide picture very soon.

Just to be sure, this mean the powersuply board went wrong? or it can be the LED backlight ?

Because the tv works perfectly fine until it turns off

BTW Tom66, last time I had a Broken tv (T-con board). I mesured the voltage on the t-con and you said voltage was wrong and 95% chance it was the t-con, you were right :p I didnt took the chance, I sold the tv and the guy that bought it told me he replace the t-con and it fixed the tv :p

What voltage do you get on the OUT+ and OUT-, top right of power board? Relative to chassis ground. Also try measuring across OUT+ and OUT-. See if readings change as set faults.

Re: Sony 46'' LED TV 7 Blinks Codes

                  Tested to the ground:

                  When tv works :
                  OUT+ : 144V
                  OUT- -120V

When it fails to turn on:
                  OUT+ : 99V
                  OUT-: 0V

OUT+ WILL slowly drop from 99V to 0 when tv fails to turn on or shut down by itself

Looks like that's your "high voltage failure" there. Try heating/cooling that part of the power board and see if you can make it shut down earlier.

Tv wont turn on anymore (Just clicking in and out)

Usually I have to let it sit 20 minutes before I can turn it on again.

When not turning on (clicking) I get 76V between out+ and out-

You could have bad poly cap or solder joint. Or bad startup cap. If you can locate the fault with heat, it will help a lot.

                            Thank you.

As soon as the tv heats up for 2-3 minutes it turns off and wont turns on again until it becomes very cool.

When I bought it from my friend, the tv was really cold (Sitting in a garage). When I bring it back home it worked for 15 minutes :p

I did the testing tonight near my fireplace and now it won't turn on at all anymore (Only clicking)

Its gonna be pretty hard to locate the faulty part because Ill have to cool down the board in a freezer then heat it lol

BTW. is it normal that the BIG Cap won't discharge when I put a screwdriver on it? It seems that it loosing all it power right away after the tv as been unplugged

I found the service manual for my TV, 7 blinks code doesnt mean High voltage error (this was on old tvs) but temperature error :

                                BAL Board
                                HLR Board

What doesnt it mean? something overheat really fast?

ok so I opened the tv and then it was working fine.. for 3 days, then it shut off again with the same error (7 blinks, temperature error)

                                  crazy thing lol

                                          Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

                                          Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...

Sony 75X9400E TV.. 5 Red blinks

I was using this TV for 5 years before it stopped working. I like this TV and would love to fix it myself.*

When I press the power button, the white led comes on (sony calls the module smart core) and then it switches over to 5 red blinks. No screen, no backlight, no relay click, nothing. I have disassembled the tv and found the service manual for 75x940e online. The manual suggests a faulty power board, TCON or the panel.**

The standby pin is at 3.3V. Fuses on the mainboard and TCON are fine. Caps on TCON also seem to be fine. When I turn on the tv the white led...

Hey guys, got this Sony that turns on momentarily and then goes black with 4 blinks of the standby light. I can't find a service manual, but best guess was the Local Dimming board based on a similar TV saying LD_ERR or BCM_ERR. I found a replacement, but it didn't work. Before I put more money into replacement boards, Im wondering if anybody has seen this issue and what worked for them, or has the service manual for this specific TV.

                                          Thanks!...

I just got this today and it has the infamous 6 blink code. I've read it's quite possibly bad backlights, and I intend to check them soon. However, I was just curious if the Sony logo should it's shouldn't be appearing briefly between powering on and the light starts flashing. I've read at least one other person had the logo flash quickly, but mine does not show anything at all, not even a flicker. The green light comes on and after about 5 seconds the red light flashes. So I'd expect in this 5 seconds to see the logo. This leads me to believe it could be a power supply issue.

                                          I...
