    Sharp LC-37HV4E washed out pic

    Hi guys,

Been a while since I've been in, life getting in the way etc.

Recently was given a Sharp LC-37HV4E to repair, a strange one this - comes with an AVC unit which separately controls the video. It is linked to the TV (monitor really) by what looks like a DVI cable, and some other strange one I've never seen before (perhaps a proprietary one)

The story is that this TV was working, and after a house move is now not.

Long story short, the picture is very washed out looking, looks almost like the brightness is turned up too high. Only a tiny hint of colour in it. Anyway, pic attached. Took it close up so the camera could actually see what was on the screen.

Any tips before I dig deep into this one? (Already tried reseating the ribbon cables to LCD and looked over the boards for suspect caps, gave the video chips a poke on the main board in case of poor joints etc)

Cheers and its good to be back

It looks like something went out in the Gamma voltage ref, circiut in the T-CON board.

Cheers Bud, I came across that post last night while searching the forum. Unfortunately the main board (for what there is of it) and tcon are all one.

I will check voltages etc and get some pics for the weekend.

      Thanks

Is this white-washed screen caused by a faulty T-Con board or panel? Sharp Aquos c70le735x
        by thesharpfella
Hello esteemed gentlemen. I have owned this LCD TV since 2012. The only repair was the replacement of the PSU a few years ago. Apart from that, no issues. Recently, all was working fine until I switched on to see it appear as so. The day before it was working fine. There is sound. Could this be a T-Con board issue? If not, what could it be? Thank you.

LG 55UP7000PUA washed out and dim
        by x_orange90_x
So I've got this 55UP7000PUA that has a very washed out and dim image. I've played with all of the settings, turned brightness to 100 as well as panel backlight, made sure no eco settings are on, etc. It looks like the backlight is at 50% or even less. I've been reading online that this is a pretty bad model with poor contrast and image retention issues, but I haven't seen anyone say it's dim like this. I've seen quite a few LGs with bad backlights before and they are usually blue. This doesn't appear blue, just washed out and dim. I've likewise never seen ANY backlights simply dim as a failure....

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sharp Aquos Lc-80LE757U flashing Sharp on screen when plugged in
        by sefoster
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

        Sharp LC-80LE661U 80 inch
        by gavenb
        Hi folks!
I have a LC-80LE661U that had some interesting issues.
Initially, it would come on and show the sharp logo and would show normal static before shutting off.

I started troubleshooting by disconnecting the led lighting strips and turning it on. It would do the same thing - come on, show the sharp logo and shut off. After reading, it was suggested to replace the main board. That was replaced and the same symptoms resulted. After this and some reading, the parts cannon got loaded up. I replaced the power board, same issue. Replaced the Tcon board and now it...
