Magnavox 42mf531d/37 odd rings on top of screen

hey guys I just picked up this TV it was full of domed capacitors and the power supply so wouldn't turn on I just replaced the capacitors with new nicheons caps and powered it up. Long and behold I got these odd white rings at the top of the screen. After about 5 minutes of being on the start to dissipate until they're gone. If I turn the TV off for even 30 seconds and turn it back on the rings are back full on and then after about 5 minutes it goes awayif I were a betting man I would say tab bonds are getting hot but it doesn't feel that way and it's all across the screen is about 5 different places as you can see. The LCD panel is made by LG Philips.

I'm thinking coefficient temperature of the tab on get hotter than the panel quicker for some reason possibly bad connection against the metal frame so is in essence they start to flexi LCD panel until the panel warms up to the same temperature at the tab bonds are in all is good the only thing I can think of.
But interestingly it still doesn't explain why they're there is soon as I turn it on imediately almost like the LCD panel is flexed and straightens out with heat

They look like pressure points like someone overtightened the bezel or similar ? Doesn't really explain how they go away on their own though...

I have had those before on some older 42" LG panels. They are simply caused by the TV being off for too long, part of the panel gets too cold. Once they go away they won't come back unless it gets too cold again. So you just need to let it run all night and it should be OK.

In my case I left an LG 42LC46 off for the weekend and came back to find some very small rings. Concerned, I ran it, but after an hour they were gone... gave it to my dad to watch and they never came back, so...

that makes sense but you know its really weird that if its been on all night in the rings are gone I can turn it off for one second turn it back on the rings reappear after about 5 seconds and then they go away after about 3 minutes they start at the very top and then expand outward kinda like a rainbow effect and then they disappear. Not that's really big deal and I'm pretty sure that someone to want this tv. it doesn't seem to hinder picture performance so I'm not really too concerned about it. Also I notice when its on those areas are a tiny bit darker than the rest of screen especially the white pictures.

its just curiosity. It seems it maybe its behind the panel like maybe the diffuser

              Magnavox 37MF331D/37

              Hi. Newbie here.

              I am seeking -desperately- assistance.

I am not an electronics tech at all.

I have owned a Magnavox 37MF331D/37 for several years. From the very beginning, the TV set shut itself off, and the only way to get it going, was to unplug it from the power, and wait. It took hours, and some times, even days, to get it back to working order.

Because I travelled a lot, the TV set issues were not that important to me. Now, I am stuck at home, and the TV used to keep me company with the background noise.

But, the software problem of course has not been resolved with time, so recently (11-26-13) I finally decided to do the software upgrade.

This is the file that I downloaded:

              37mf331d_37_fus_aen

After upgrading the software, now the TV does not work at all. I have tried upgrading the software, re-programming the set, put new batteries on the remote, checked all the cables and connections on the
TV set, but nothing seems to resolve this problem.

Could you find out, if there is a way to restore the original TV's Factory software?

At least with that, the TV worked on and off, although I had days where I could not watch TV at all.

Now, I cannot watch TVno matter what! I still can play DVD's though.

Thank you in advance, for your assistance.

Did you look at the power supply for bulging leaky capacitors? That was this tvs initial problem. Three 1500uf 35v and one 2000uf 35v I believe were the problem.

May not be the software upgrade more than a power supply fault.

I am not a techie, not by a long stretch of the imagination.

The TV worked with the factory firmware. As soon as I updated it, it stopped working. I cannot watch TV, but I can watch DVDs.

My search is either for a better version of the firmware (Magnavox / Philips has not upgraded it in years) or, for a copy of the original firmware as it came with the TV set.

                  Thanks again.

more or less like a main board problem if you're still getting video another inputs but the tuner.

Still, I would like to try to re-install the factory's original software, and see if that will resolve the issue.

If it does not, then I will take the next step, and take the TV to a technician, for the main board issues.

Anyone has a copy of that software?

                      Thank you.

Same rings on 42MF531D magnavox. They subside after a 1/2 hour or so. On this tv they get worse for a few seconds after tv is powered up. Gonna let ride. I replaced the same caps as freakaftr8.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                          by smic717394
                          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
