Excellent. Should I leave CN807 connected while I jumped them?

Re: Samsung PN50A450 - No Power

                  LVDS is unplugged.
Power supply to main board is unplugged at main board.
Jumpered from 3-4 on pins on control board.
                  Jumpered 6-7 and 9-10 on CN807.

Tried to turn on and didn't do anything.

Noticed that pin 6 is RTN, not GND as Tom mentioned...so I jumped pin 7 to the ground and the tv turned on. It's flashing white red and green and purple, etc. now.

                  Is this a clue?

Oops sorry about the RTN, error on my part.

                    Mainboard is at fault then

Main board diagnostics are beyond me at the moment, I would simply replace it.

                      Very cool, thank you!

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if I jumped the PWR_ON like that while it was all plugged in, would that make it work?

Unfortunately not: the main board is simply not turning on the signal because it is stuck in some kind of fault mode. If you did that you would be left with a slightly glowing black screen with no image. The fact that you got test patterns means the fault is with the main board.

                          Ok, you guys are awesome.

                          Last question:

I found this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-BN94...50A450P1DXZA-/

I can't find a part number on the main board that matches anything on ebay for this model. It has several stickers with with different part numbers.

How do I tell if this eBay board will match my unit?

                              Thank you, fellas.

I ordered a replacement board on ebay. I will replace it next week when it comes in, and I plan to update this thread with the results for the future use of anyone else with the same problem.

This was very educational and I appreciate all of the input.

Installed the new main board today.

Fired right up with no problem!

This turned out to be a heck of a good deal. Thank you all for your help. I'm soldering a few new capacitors into a Viewsonic sometime this week, so I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me as I venture into even more unknown territory.

                                  Take care!

Not to dig up an old thread but I wanted to give thanks as always to newtothis and tom66. Got one of these TVs on the bench right now and followed this thread to determine that the control board was faulty. Not sure why more TVs don't have a test mode like this. Sure does make sense.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

                                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                          Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off

                                          Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....
