Vizio GV47LFHDTV10A No Picture No Sound Fix

    Uses main board 3647-0012-0150

    Symptoms:
Powers on, Vizio logo turns from amber to white. No backlight. No picture. No sound. Control buttons stay lit. Will not power off unless unplugged.

    Fix:
Replace F3, 1.5A fuse on main board.

I'm not sure what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. I replaced it. It powers on and has been working for a couple hours. I used my meter to see that it draws .98A through the fuse. I have a 3A fuse I can put in its place but I'm not sure if I should. In this instance, can I safely replace the 1.5A fuse with a 3A fuse?

I had same problem just like that on my friend in June, the current draw is OK also. I put in the new fuse (2A (twice the current draw) PICOII fuse), it is still running today, he uses the TV everyday.

Thanks Bud. I'll see if I can pick up a 2A fuse this afternoon and put it in.

I didn't have time to get the fuse after work. I have a 3A fuse in my bin. Would that be too much?

That 3x more than running current, I would not do it.

That's what I figured. I'll stop at the store tomorrow and pick up a 2A fuse tomorrow.

Bud, before I make the trip across town, I'd like to call and make sure they have the fuse in stock. What type of fuse should I ask for?

2 amp time delay (or "slow blow") type. Minimum 24VDC rated. You can use SMD 1206 or through hole type.

I had two of these myself, with the same fuse issue.

I purchased a 2A pico through-hole type fuse and soldered the leads to the pads. I've been using it a lot over the past week and consider it fixed now. Thanks for the help guys. This is probably the most truly useful forum that I belong to. You guys are what make this forum what it is.

Just picked up one of these that have the exact same issue, tested the fuse and sure enough it was bad. I have never ordered a smd fuses before on digikey and was wondering if the link I provided is the correct one you were referring to tom66?

                          http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...89-1-ND/809343

                          Appreciate the help....

Or if anyone has a link to the one that is needed you would completely make my day cause now that I look more at this chart the more I feel like the above link is not the right one

I appreciate the help johnboy 1313, if you have a moment could you explain the ratings of this fuse and what's the 1206 that tom66 was referring. I just want to understand things. Appreciate the help.

The 1206 is the footprint of the fuse. The one you posted is a lot smaller than the one I linked. Yours would surely work, but would be a lot harder to solder on.

Heat and poor build quality I believe is what causes these fuses to blow. Fatigue.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I have fixed about 4 of these sets in the past, and all had the exact same issue. Not sure what causes it to go out but its about as easy as it gets for repairs.
