    panasonic TC-l37x2 clicking power

Have a panasonic that i've changed the power board because you turn it on.. the red light turns on and stays on. no screen power but the optical light for sound cuts on.. after 20 minutes you hear the power board click twice .. red light goes out. and cuts right back on... and it just repeats this process. any ideas?

sorry not 20 minutes.. just 20 seconds after it cuts on you hear something on the power board click twice then back to red light on and no screen or sound then repeats every 20 seconds

When the TV starts up, is the red light on solid or does it blink? In other words what you see for the LED does it appear normal for TV to startup.

On our pansonics red is standy, flashes green on startup and solid green when the TV is on and working.

What I'm thinking is a bad or shorted backlight cct. I had a 19" Pana, it would just continually try to start and recycle it self but no fault codes, just kept blink green LED.

I found a shorted H-fet transistor that drove the CCFL transformers. Once I removed the short and isolated the leads to the fluros, it started up normal, had sound and using a flashlight I could see an image.

It only ran for a matter of seconds and shutdown to a 1 blink error or backlight error becaused it did not detect the backlight.

maybe you have a similar issue.

Sorry had to edit this, I don't touch LCD much, X Series does appear to be CCFL (for a moment thought it was LED)

One of TOM's stockpile of manuals.

It's EEFL which is very similar to CCFL but has external electrode which gives it a longer lifespan.

You're right, i saw that but like you say essentially fluro. never heard of EEFL before but I generally don't touch LCD so my knowledge of them is low.

I suspect that 19" TH-L19X10AK I had may have been EEFL too, 2009/2010 model.

and If I try to hold the power to power it off.. red light goes off.. then it clicks again and turns red light back on..

That sounds EXACTLY like the problem I had with my TC-L32X1.

Turns out it was the main board. Thankfully I (guessed?) correctly the first time and chose that over the power board. I've been running it for about 2 months now no problems!

All I can suggest with my only experience is the backlight cct, It's just a theory, I could be wrong. I only responded because it sounds very similar behaviour to my 19".

                        Q7801,7802,7803,7804 may be shorted?

                        I tinker with plasmas mainly.

Good to see someone else has some experience with your symptoms , hope it works out for you.

I got my main board for around $42 on ebay. But even down to your experience with holding the power button down and seeing the optical light act accordingly, all exactly like my problem before replacing the board.

Obviously I can't say with 100% certainty that is your problem, but I can tell you that is EXACTLY how mine was before I replaced the main board to fix the issue.

                          Good luck!
