    Lg 50pv450

Hi, I am brand new here but came upon this site while searching for help with a 50PV450 I have. I will be very grateful for any help that can be given.

The issue I have is as follows:

I have an LG 50PV450. I recently acquired three boards for this TV. I picked up a new power supply board, and new YSUS board and a new main board (there were damaged HDMI ports in this TV, hence the new main board).

I've installed all the boards, as I'm fairly skilled with a screw driver, but now all I see are "sparkles" for a moment and then the TV goes black.

I happened upon this site through this thread.

It seemed to discuss a similar issue, though on a different TV set. I was wondering how I would go about resolving the sparkle issue for this set. I have questions such as, how do I find the proper set points for this panel? I noticed the Vs and Vr on the Power Supply, how do I adjust these properly and what makes them different than the, I think it was 4, settings on the YSUS board?

Thank you in advanced. I look forward to any response.

    Re: Lg 50pv450

There is a problem with the Y-sus, control, Y-buffer or Z-sus, in that order, if you see sparklies when powered on but no picture then appears. Voltage/setting adjustment will not help for now. In some cases initial sparkling may be normal if it goes away once set is displaying an image. Do the sparklies go away? It may be normal power up procedure.

Can you supply a picture of the control board (sometimes called logic)? There is a test jumper on most of them which can be activated to see if the new main board is bad, which will cause dark slightly glowing screen with no visible image. In a very dark room do you see any glow from the plasma screen?

      Hi Tom,

Thank you for the reply. I will work to get the answers for you, but must state before hand that this may take a while. I have a 1 year old in house, so all work must be done in the evenings to avoid frying the little guy.

Q: "Do the sparklies go away?"
A: Yes. When I power on the TV, the screen shows pretty black with scattered sparkles that then disappear after a few moments.

Q: "Can you supply a picture of the control board (sometimes called logic)?"
A: I will work to get that image posted this evening. --EDIT: I am not certain off the top of my head where this would be located. I know the YSUS (upper left), Power Supply (center), ZSUS (upper right) and Main (lower right).

Q: "In a very dark room do you see any glow from the plasma screen?"
A: I am not entirely certain. When I powered it up, there was maybe a glow and sparkles scattered about, but it appeared to go all dark after a few moments. I can see if I can make the room darker to see if it is actually still "glowing" after the initial event. I tend to think not though.

Thanks again for your reply. I really appreciate the help.
--EDIT: I've been working off this manual.

        Hi Tom,

Attached are the images. I tried to capture the full "boot-up" screen but wasn't fast enough with my camera.

When it first starts up, the entire screen is "sparkled".
Then it is only half the screen. Then it goes dark.
I can tell there is some "light" going on in there. Perhaps a back light. But, even in a dark room, the "glow" you mentioned I wasn't able to see. If there was a plasma glow, then it did not appear. But I could tell there was some sort of light going on there. It looked like a black image vs a turned off set.

Included are also the pictures of the boards and the entire back of the panel.

To me, it looks like a bad Y-buffer or Y-sus, possibly both.

You can try this test to see what you get. Perform the changes with power off, then plug it in. You should see a sequence of test patterns if it's working, but I suspect you will see nothing more than you currently see. This board is the control board.

            Hi Tom,

            Thank you for the response.
The changes you are talking about are replacing the 2 boards you mentioned?

No, I'm talking about powering it off when following the instructions in the image attached.

Wanted to post an update so as not to disappear. I have been swarmed by other duties lately. I plan on getting to this tomorrow. At that time will have more information on the results.

                    Hi Tom,
I did as instructed. The screen didn't do all that much. It showed some pixels as before but even less briefly. The color was largely red. Then it went dark.

The old board hissed high pitch and clicked. With it in the TV will not power on. It cycles attempts, but never succeeds.

The jumper enables the internal test pattern generator. (The LVDS cable must also be removed to enable it.)

Can you check the -Vy and Vsc voltages on the Y-sustain? They will be labelled. To test, put your meter across the indicated points set to the highest DC range.

Interesting. Could I have jumped poorly? I did not solder. I just put a wire end in each.

If the result is different (you noticed a difference right?), it cannot have been the connection. That is how I would jumper it, just a wire or bent paperclip.

Vsc starts off high. Around 178 but falls off to 0.
Vy starts off high, over 200, but falls off quickly and ends at 0.

OK on the back of the metal backing of the plasma panel (inside the unit) you have a sticker marked e.g. LG Electronics PDP50xxxxxxxxx with voltages like VS: 206V, VA: 58V marked on it. Can you take a picture of this sticker?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update

                                          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                                          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                                          by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

                                          Pin 02 NC
                                          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                                          Pin 04 "N/C"
                                          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                                          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                                          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
