Trouble with BU1 Board Sony Bravia KDL-46S3000

So here is the back story, my Sony Bravia KDL-46S3000 had no sound or picture and was displaying 8 blinking red lights. So I did some reading and replaced the BU1 board. The sound and picture now works but the picture is mostly fuzzy red. You can make out images but they are almost all red. Not sure if it is an issue with the BU1 board or something else.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Check lvds cable between mainboard and tcon for bad connections. Wiggle back and forth and see if picture changes.

Can you give any description of what the lvds cable is? Does it go from the BU1 board to the mainboard?

Typically goes from the t-con to the main board, sometimes another board.

Wiggle it back does the picture appear? You may have a broken/intermittent cable or connector on one of the boards.

After wiggling the cord, there is no picture anymore and the tv turns off by itself and the standby light blinks 5 times

It would be best to completely disconnect the cord look at the pins make sure nothing is bent or distorted in the contacts. Reconnect the cable. Verify its attached properly then power on the tv.

5 blinks means you lost communication between the main board and the t-con board. that's probably the source of your red screen issue as well

is the t-con board the one at the top of the TV where the black cord goes into from the BU1 board. And by main board do you mean BU1 board?

T-con is under the metal shield top mid center for the chassis. Make sure to install any thermal pads back in place.

yes mainboard is BU1 in tour case. something must of went a mess when you installed the BU1 board and connected the black cable to it something is either wrong on the end with the t-con or the end where the mainboard connects. something is not right with that cable or the connection into the main board or t-con

Sounds like a tcon board problem. Is there a chance you originally wiggled this connector with the tv on? You could also have a bad lvds cable. That is the black cable

Another thing is check the fuse on the tcon board. It may have blown if it was on while you wiggled the cable. Its white little rectangle wirh gold ends on each side. If open thats why you have a shutdown possibly. Do thus with your meter in ohms test. Should get a 0 or beep if good. Tv must be unplugged
