47" Vizio VT470M No picture no sound.

So I got this vizio vt470m. The standby light changes to on however there is no picture. Tried the flashlight test but doesn't seem to be any picture at all. So losing some hope and guessing this might be a bad main board problem here...

Standby voltage is at a steady 5.25V

    Once I power it on:
PS_ON goes straight to 4.88V when powered on.

ON_OFF will increase to 0.11 then goes to 4.8V but it would drop to 0.11 one time but go back to a steady 4.8V and stay there.

    12V pin measures 1.4V
    24V pin measures 0V.

Checking the Big caps I get 165V on standby and 396V when on.

Any ideas what the problem will be?

Re: 47" Vizio VT470M No picture no sound.

You may have a shorted diode on the 24V line (PSU) or shorted inverter which has not blown the fuse. First try with inverter disconnected to see if 24V line rises.

The fuses on the inverter tested good. but Hmm youre right! with the inverters disconnected the 24V line measures 24.7 and ON_OFF now measures 5.23V

OK, can you post some pictures of the inverter(s)?

I guess the inverters would be the problem since the 24V line is back when they are disconnected?

Just tested the mosfets on the both inverters. I removed the two pins off of the pcb and measured them. I found two mosfets on one board to be shorted in all three pins.

              MOSFETs are labeled:
              FDB
              8447L

Looks like I found some on digikey!
              http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...LCT-ND/1626924

But meanwhile I found some salvaged mosfets on an old inverter board I had with the same labels. Replaced them to see what'll happen and success! the TV is back to life!
Thanks for the help! This TV actually has a really nice picture. I really thought it was going end up as a main board swap.

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
                  by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                  by TR103
                  Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                  - sound and backlight, but no picture
                  - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                  - it keeps rebooting
                  - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                  - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                  - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                  by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                  by Ierwin
                  Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...
