Magnavox 32mf231d/37 bad chip found but cant identify because numbers are burned.

    OK Bud, I'm finally getting back to this. I was going to part it out but decided to give it one more shot. Resistance between 4 and 8 is over limit on my meter. Diode was OK. Think I might have found the problem though. Take a look at the pic and tell me what it is. It looks like a cap but I don't know. Whatever it is, its shorted. I removed it and its definitely shorted. It also is connected to pin one on the burned up chip.

      that is a 10 ohm smd resistor!
      WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?

        Thanks. I'm new to SMD and thought all resistors were black. I just googled it and now I know how to calculate the value. Tested with ohm meter, 10.2. Guess its not shorted it just has low resistance so my meter's continuity tester rang. Back to the drawing board. Thanks.
