Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

ok i tried to reset the trap switch by entering service mode but i can't get to the screen to fix it so i checked it after i tried to enter the service mode and it read 60volts until it shut the glow on the screen off and the relay click and put the red light on the main board once it shut down then the voltage dropped drastically

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

it is stable at about .9volts but it should be 60volts. it is at 60 volts then the relay clicks and turns a red light on the main board and the voltages drops down to about .9 volts like it is discharging. i get the same voltage at the power supply board as i do at the x and y boards. it seems like it keeps sending it back into lock mode but i can't figure out what is causing it. if i try to enter service mode it will attempt to but then after 10 seconds the relay clicks and puts a red light on the main board on and then i have to try to enter service mode again before it tries to do anything the power on and standby light are both on and get it to reset or find out what is causing it to fault. i'm guessing it might have something to do with a relay or the vadr but the vadr has voltage there until it "trips" the red light on the main board.

It just sounds like the PSU is shutting down, so I'd look at the PS ON signal from the main board. If it is shutting down check the flowcharts (if any) in service manual for seeing why the main board might be shutting down. Try unplugging everything unnecessary: audio amplifier (if external), speakers, button board, IR board (if power button on separate board.)

from the chart it says replace power supply unit. because i only have 174 volts and it says it should be no lower than 340v if so it is bad because it should read 390v. so where do i go from here and is there a fix other than replacing the whole unit or can i troubleshoot and find the exact culprit? thanks for being the only 1 that has offered help!

Hmm, does the 174V ever jump up to 390V, or is it always low? Sounds like PFC problem, usually not too hard to repair.
340V is for 240V country. 165~175V is for 120V country.

i also checked the ps_pd and that wasn't getting any voltage and it's suppose to be between 0 and 3.3v i didn't get anything when unplugging and plugging the tv.i also checked that N.C. (relay) and that is suppose to read 3.35v and that reads 0 except when i plugged the tv in then i got .01v. i would just like to replace what is wrong and not the whole thing if i can find out the exact problem and where to start. i'm not the best at reading schematics but i try.

no it stays right there at 174 thats what i get when i checked the cathode of d204 and negative of rc101 like it said in flowchart. where do i go from here?

Can you show me the general area you are testing? D204 may be shorted, PFC IC may be bad, PFC Vcc cap may be bad. Any schematic for power board?

That's just a block diagram ,not a schematic unfortunately.

of the area of the board where i checked d204 and rc101? yeah give me a few minutes. i took the board out and check a bunch of diode on the board. all diodes are suppose to read only 1 way correct? if so i found 3 that read both ways and checked them several times. do you think that would be the problem or just part of the problem? or are they ok?

Hello out there in Badcap land.

I have a Pioneer plasma that gave me the dreaded 8 red blink and shutdown, I have been trying to trace the failure points. On my last inspection while replacing a Y Sustain Board I noticed on the original and replacement board some missing solder, the points of connection
are from the Digital Address Board and the Buffer Boards. I have included the pictures, should I resolder these points or are they unsoldered intentionally? Any help would be much appreciated.

                                            Thank you

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?

I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

Just starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.

At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)

After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers

Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing

                                            This pic from:

I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...
