I have a Samsung PN42A400c2d that was working fine and then one day I turned it on and the blue power indicator light blinks a few times and the stays lit with no picture whatsoever. I have gotten some conflicting advice on whether its a power board issue or a Y-main issue. Help!

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Do you have sound? If you have a multimeter, check your power supply's VS and VA voltages (labeled "VS-TP" and "VA-TP").Last edited by capkid; 09-05-2013, 09:15 PM. -

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
You will need a multimeter to diagnose almost every TV problem. One can be purchased for under $10 in Harbour Freight, or other DIY shops. Make sure it is a digital type multimeter, that is, it has a digital display, not an analog needle. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. You can check the Vs, Va voltages, as well as the PS-ON and VS-ON signals. If you provide clear pictures we can show you how to do this. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Do you have your meter?
Set it to the DC 600V or 1000V range. This is marked with "=". It is NOT the one marked "~".
At the top of this image
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1378642444
there is a point marked VS_TP. Your red probe goes on there.
The black probe touches some part of the metal frame such as the wall mount bracket.
Then, the TV is turned on (you can touch Vs TP after turning TV on, but do not touch any other part while it is on.)
You should get a Vs of 207V within 2 volts.
Then switch to the Va TP. You should get 54V.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

And those stay steady, they do not drop out?
OK, next step, follow these instructions:

So I have to solder a connection? I have literally never done that before.Comment

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Nope, you just have to take a jumper pin block, like what you'd find on a hard disk drive, or a piece of carefully bent wire, and place it across pins 3 and 4.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Ok, so what am I looking for when I do this, the link didn't say. Also, can I assume 3 and 4 are the bottom two? Last, can the bent wire touch the board itself or does it need to only touch 3 and 4, because mine has the pads? Sorry for all the questions!Last edited by CLANKIRKPATRICK; 09-08-2013, 06:59 AM.Comment

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
1-2-3-4 are labelled. Use the labels.
Test pattern sequence should appear on panel

Does yours have no connection block? I can clearly see one in the photo. CN2007?Last edited by tom66; 09-08-2013, 07:09 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Ok I did that, and it still did the same thing, blue power light flashes a couple times and the stays lit with no picture...I did notice on the control board that when I turn it on led 2 flashes continuously and led 1 flashes once and the goes out.
Also I noticed on the plasma troubleshooting thread about disconnecting the z board and then the y board and seeing if the sound returns. Should I try that, or do you have something else?Comment

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
I have sound with the Z board (the one on the right) disconnected...does that solve the problem or should I investigate more?Comment

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Try with "Z" (X-main on this model) connected again. If Vs/Va are present then it shouldn't be shutting down sound too. Wait 5 minutes after power removed before reconnecting due to high voltage. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by rouninHi everyone,
I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.
🛠 Original Issue
The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.
I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

by ugamazingI have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!
We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre... -

Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:- CAPS LOCK does not work at all
- Fn button toggles Flight Mode
- When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
- (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
but when I press and hold...06-27-2025, 01:10 AM -
Hello everyone,
I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.
To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:- Power

by wizard13Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a BIOS-related issue with my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100. When I power on the laptop, the screen stays black, and there is no response from the system. I suspect a corrupted BIOS.
I have checked the forum and the available documentation but could not find a solution specific to my issue.- Brand & Model: Dynabook Satellite Pro C50D-B-100
