Just wanted to give an update and thanks...I switched out the Y-main and Y-buffer and it now works perfectly...Thank you a million times over Tom and capkid!

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
That is really frustrating that I killed the brand new buffer just by hooking it up...so should I take the chance on just getting a new Y main or do I need to get yet another y-buffer to go along with it?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
So just hooking up a new y buffer to a faulty y main kills it, and it needs replaced again?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
What components exactly? Are you saying I need to buy another buffer in addition to the new one I just bought when I change out the y main?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
So I changed out the Y-buffer today and still have the same problem with the fluctuating voltages on the Y-main. Any thoughts?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
The both vsch and vscan voltages are stable after removing the buffer, does that mean its a bad buffer board?Last edited by CLANKIRKPATRICK; 09-08-2013, 12:15 PM.

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
how do I disengage the connections between the buffer and the y main? The white ones..

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
I found the v scan and it fluctuates from -184 to -194 volts

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
I tested the VSCH on the y board, is the v scan the screw?Last edited by CLANKIRKPATRICK; 09-08-2013, 11:53 AM.

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Yeah, .9 ohms on the y fuse....the -vsc is fluctuating between -55 an -80....the ve is steady at 95.4

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
i checked the fuse on the y main and it reads 0.9

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
I have sound with the Z board (the one on the right) disconnected...does that solve the problem or should I investigate more?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Ok I did that, and it still did the same thing, blue power light flashes a couple times and the stays lit with no picture...I did notice on the control board that when I turn it on led 2 flashes continuously and led 1 flashes once and the goes out.
Also I noticed on the plasma troubleshooting thread about disconnecting the z board and then the y board and seeing if the sound returns. Should I try that, or do you have something else?

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
Ok, so what am I looking for when I do this, the link didn't say. Also, can I assume 3 and 4 are the bottom two? Last, can the bent wire touch the board itself or does it need to only touch 3 and 4, because mine has the pads? Sorry for all the questions!Last edited by CLANKIRKPATRICK; 09-08-2013, 06:59 AM.

Re: PN42A400C2D issue
So I have to solder a connection? I have literally never done that before.
