I think its pins 8 and 9 according to Post #61 which is how you have numbered and labelled them. Did you get that from the board itself?

    Pin 8 5vStby
    Pin 9 stb

Its usually called PSOn or On/Off

    Anyone else know for sure???

okies then what mate have I got to gold them I can solder three together mate at will give me around 1.5k
would that be any good so basicly all leads disconnected except psu
power the board and jump 5stb with stb pin 8 and 9 with resisstors

don't want to hold them though lol

        1.5k should be ok.

Instead of disconnecting the Main A/v board connector from the PS b/d, disconnect it from the Main A/V b/d end, then you can place one end of the resistor into Pin 8 and the other end into Pin 9, but be sure that Pin 8 and Pin 9 at the Main A/v connector end are wired the same as the PS b/d end, its not unusual for the wires to be crossed (swapped) around at the other end. You can usually go by the colour of the wire insulator.
This way you don't have to hold the resistor or solder but just be sure it is kept away from the chassis and other components.

Once the resistor is in place power on the PS b/d and measure the voltage on the main filter cap as before.

Are you sure they are resistors?

Resistors in series will just add up the resistance so don't matter what ohm each are. Are you reading the DMM correctly?

              1.5 could be 1.5k, i,e 1500 ohms

Sounds good, test it with the DMM set on 2000 ohm setting

should be fine regardless of factor 1/4w, 1/8w

right tested psu powered I had the inverter connected and the voltage of big cap was 384 and -384

                          and still getting surge noise

So the main filter cap had a steady voltage of 384v

Try with inverter disconnected to eliminate the inverter board

Noise, no mention of noise before - post a good photo of the solder side of the PS b/d.

Inspect for bad solder joints, might be worth reflowing the main ones, re-check any joints you've done just to be sure.

And its definately from the PS b/d not the inverter?

100% from psu board mate comes somewhere around left heatsink or there abbouts could even from big cap not sure

Now you have a resistor in place and checked the main filter cap measure the voltages on the connectors again to compare with your previous results.

Try with inverter disconnected, could be a bad inverter board

Do you have a couple of car side bulbs (12v 5w)? With 2 in series you could connect to the 24v inverter output rails to see if the PS can maintain the voltage under load. If they light up steady then the 24v rail output is good, if not, flicker or dim, then the fault is most likely on the PS b/d.

Gotta go out shortly, but will help when I return or 2morow if your about.
