philips 42pfl5432d/37 no power-blows fuse on PSU

i've been coming to this site for over a month in hopes of troubleshooting this problem but my problem seems different than all the others i have viewed with the same tv they have different problems. my tv was shut off a month or so ago and it wouldn't turn back on no standby light nothing. i unplugged it for a few hours and still nothing then i took the back off and no buldging caps and i read the common cause according to the basic guide is shorted out diodes or transistors. but i am new to this so i don't know how to go about narrowing it down to what i need to fix. board # 715T2432-3 and you can't buy a new 1 cause they are all sold out wherever i checked! they are capXon capacitors which i hear aren't good but they don't have any visual problems even though that doesn't mean anything! i have a digital multimeter but it isn't a good 1. thanks in advance for anyone that helps out any help is better than no help. the board is currently out of the tv with no fuse in it but i have 1 extras to put in it but they aren't ceramic because i was waiting until i got the problem diagnosed first.

Try plugging the power supply back in and trying it again cause I have the same tv and it had the same problem. I de soldered a cap to have it checked out cause I thought it was slightly buldged but ended up being fine. When I put it back in I tried powering the tv on and it fired right up.

You could use your DMM to check for any shorts or open ctts, i.e resistors for opens, caps for shorts though its most likely a short cct your looking for.

Re: philips 42pfl5432d/37 no power-blows fuse on PSU

i did put the power supply back in that is when it immediately blew a fuse so i am thinking it is a short but i don't know where to start i checked the 4 bigger caps the 3 bigger 1500-35v and the 1 a little smaller 2200-16v and they seem to be charging and discharging but i did read a lot of forums on here and that doesn't mean anything unless u have a esr meter and i don't have 1 nor do i have the money right now for it maybe in the future. thanks for replying people i am just a newbie to this. sorry budm i don't have any pics now and sorry for not replying sooner i was working. i don't know what resistors to check or should i just check them all on the psb? there are pics on here that show the same exact board budm. i'm just not sure i am checking things with the dmm correctly. if i find the same boards should i post them or did u want to see my board specifically budm?

If you don't have an ESR meter, I'd just swap those caps anyway they're less than a dollar each usually.

ok thanks vince. i used my dmm and put it on diode test for d912 and it read 0 both ways now does that mean it is bad? shouldn't it read open 1 way and millivolts the other way? i have a cheap centech dmm i really would like someone to help me find out if i am reading resistors and diodes properly. i also checked q901 and q902 they are 3 pin resistors and those pics on the other thread are my exact board. i thought i was doing it right but now i'm getting confused...thanks for the reply vince

i am still learning my self but when a diode reads both ways like that i desolder 1 lead from the board and lift it up so not making contact with the psu and recheck there are a few diodes on your board so if you can take a good picture as budm suggests it will help point the parts out to check can you read the part numbers from the mosfets? on the heat sink maybe budm or tom or someone more experienced than me will advise you how to test these correctly.maybe worth checking the TEA1507P as well.

q is a transistor i think and it has 3 pins but i am getting all kinds of wacky reading from my dmm and is it able to be checked while in circuit? i have it in ohms and tested pin 1 to 2 then reversed pos and neg then did the same between 2 and 3.

can you get the part numbers from q901 and q902 then we can look for data sheets for them and see what they are any odd readings i do remove from the circuit to test just remember which one comes from which location i would download your pdf but i am on a payg dongle for internet at the minute and not much data left on it.also check Zener Diodes (ZD902 & ZD904) if they on your board should only get a reading in one direction if good test on diode mode.

                                          by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                                          The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

Samsung UE46ES8000 Blown fuse but no other signs of short
                                          by jesterace
Hi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...

Help replacing fuse on my Mimaki CJV300-160 vinyl printer
                                          by jshhh
                                          Hi guys,

I'm inexperienced with electronics repairs, I've done a little bit of soldering caps and whatnot, but i have a blown fuse on this mimaki printer I got which I have bought a replacement for.

How do I remove this type of fuse (see picture)...it kinda looks like it would pull out of that bracket but it didn't come at first pull and I didn't want to brute force it incase it's soldered on there like most of the rest of the components.

Anybody know how to remove this type of fuse?

(The fuse is toward the bottom of the image labeled F2)...

Argon SA1 audio amplifier power-supply - fuse blown after fixing the short?
                                          by Babbar
I found a project in the electronics trash yesterday. A nice Argon SA1 audio amp with some electrical issue. Took it apart and saw that the 4A250V fuse was blown so started lifting components to find the short. Eventually got to two MOSFETs (model FTA14N50C) that are shorted and when i took them out the short was gone.

Now i didn't have any replacements of the same model of course but i found a couple with pretty similar spec i thought (K10A60D & K12A50D) and put them in. Also replaced the blown fuse with a 3.5A250V one. Checked another time for short circuit and plugged it in....

                                          Matsui 175S microwave fuse replacement
                                          by drykid
                                          Hi,

I recently picked up a used Matsui 175S microwave that was powering up (starts, turntable rotates) but not heating. From looking online the most likely culprit was the fuse, but unfortunately in this one the fuse had heated up and fused with the (badly designed) fuse holder and couldn't be removed. I guess this might indicate further issues beyond the fuse itself but at this stage I just want to replace the fuse and see how I go from there.

Anyway since I couldn't get out the fuse itself the easiest fix was to replace the fuse holder assembly that runs between the...
