Samsung 40 inch LE40A456C2D No HDMI picture - with pics

    Model : LE40A456C2D 40 inch LCD

    PSU : BN44-00197A

    Main Board : BN94-01672D / BN41-00980A

History : The TV came with a blown power board. I replaced the board as the fuse had completey shattered and there was a cheap replacement
on ebay. All the replacement psu voltages seem near to ok (i think ?).

    Voltages at psu :
    0 reads 0
    13 reads 12.89
    13 reads 12.89
    0 reads 0
    5.3 reads 5.02
    5.3 reads 5.02
    0 reads 0
    0 reads 0
    13 reads 12.89
    0 reads 9
    5.3 reads 5.05
    power reads 3.63

Problem : At power on the TV blinks red light 3 times, then a delay, then another blink.
Then Im ONLY able to watch Scart TV.
If i change to HDMI with a source the TV briefly shows caption 'HDMI 1'
that caption then dispappears and then a blank screen
    with no sound.

Have tried service menu reset 5 or 6 times and made no
    difference.

Is there a known eeprom where the pins can be connected
for a reset? I had a look for ic1803 and ic502 but dont seem
    to be there.

The pics of av board are repeated , had a bit of trouble
with the light etc, let me know if anymore are needed.
Let me know if anything daft in service menu etc -

Press INFO when on HDMI. Does HDMI1 appear again?

Does menu work on HDMI mode?

After selecting HDMI can you select other ports too?

Have you tried other HDMI ports?

Whatever damaged the fuse may have taken out the main board (power surge.)

      thanks Tom -
Press INFO when on HDMI. Does HDMI1 appear again? Yes info about the source displays, 1980 x 1020 24hz etc.

Does menu work on HDMI mode? Yes the menu displays.

After selecting HDMI can you select other ports too? Yes

Have you tried other HDMI ports? Yep there are 3 hdmi's and its the same results for each.

Have just been in the service menu again. I notice it has a menu 'WBA Adjust' then 'Calibration', then 'HDMI Calibration', this has 'Failed' next to it. Not a good sign i guess.

I can't think of an easy way of fixing this aside from replacing the main board. Check the BN9x-xxxxxx(A-Z) number on it for a part number. The letter at the end is important.

Ok I'll order a replacement board, prob around £25 with postage.
          I agree its prob shoot.
          But,
can i ask, from a learning point of view... the eeprom pin connection process, is that very much the same as doing a service menu 'reset' ???

The 5-6 pin jumper on EEPROM sometimes? That is to do with tricking the TV into thinking the settings EEPROM is blank, and filling it with new data. Unfortunately that does not usually affect HDCP keys as those are stored encrypted and in a secret location (if they are leaked, they get blocked, which will stop some older TVs playing back new content... all in the name of copyright.)

So i guess you perform and pin 5 6 connection process when you might think the eeprom is corrupt or way off the factory settings ?

Usually you'd only do that if the TV wasn't turning on at all.

Marantz SR4003 AVR HDMI board issue, seeking for help
                  by aliougm
I have problem with my AVR(Marantz SR4003) HDMI board issue. I connect to my TV but screen color distorted, see attached picture.

                  Connection as below:
                  Set-top box HDMI output >AVR 3 HDMI input/one HDMI output>HDTV HDMI port
If I bypassed AVR then HDTV screen color be good.

I take out HDMI board from AVR and check services manual the schematic shown the HDMI signals path:
                  3 HDMI input port > SIL9185 chip(HDMI switch) > SIL9033 chip(HDMI receiver) > SIL9030 chip(HDMI transmitter) > HDMI output port

                  I replaced all...

Certain DisplayPort-HDMI cables can disable HDMI CEC communication
                  by japlytic
With a setup including a TV and AV receiver where HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and Audio Return Channel (ARC) functions were working, these two functions stopped working after changing some connections (not the one between the AV receiver and TV), so I believed it was a corrupt setting in the AV receiver or TV, but when I disconnected a passive DisplayPort-HDMI cable (which a Multimode DisplayPort connector supports HDMI with a low cost passive cable or adaptor) connected to a home theatre PC, HDMI CEC and ARC functionality was restored.
An examination of the HDMI CEC wiring...

                  Toshiba 50UL2063DB randomly rebooting with HDMI-CEC and/or HDMI-ARC enabled
                  by spleenharvester
I have this TV hooked up to only an AppleTV 4K and a Creative soundbar. Originally HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC wouldn't work at all, I replaced all the HDMI cables with decent UGREEN cables meeting the latest standards, now it all works perfectly but once or twice a day the TV itself reboots while watching a program, the AppleTV keeps running. I haven't fully pinned down whether it is ARC or CEC causing it yet. All are running latest firmware.

I assume it is just HDMI-CEC being buggy as usual on a shitty Vestel machine, but can anyone think of anything I can try before disabling it?

LG LCD TV HDMI PORT FAULTY
                  by RossMoodley1967
LG LCD TV picture comes on intermittenly using hdmi port. The sound is on permantly. The hdmi ports looks fine and soldered in securely. The 3.4v coming to the main board is not present(not sure if will affect the hdmi port or where that voltage goes.)The hdmi cable is fine because it works on another tv.The ceramic caps connected to the hdmi controller ic is reading 39 ohms.Could the hdmi controller ic be faulty(feels very warm to touch). The RCA jacks work normally .Thank you in advance for your assistance..

                  Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
                  by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...
