Last week my Panasonic Viera TC-P46G10 plasma TV stopped working after a short power outage caused by a storm. I have read everything I can find on this forum and just want a professional opinion on my situation because I could not find my model or my exact issue.
When I power on the TV, the relay clicks and the red LED lights up like normal operation. After a few seconds, the screen lights up...there is no picture and it is dim put you can tell it is lit in the dark. Pressing any keys on the system or remote has no effect and nothing is placed on the screen (menu, input, channel, volume, etc...). The screen will stay lit up until I power off the tv. Also, the fans never turn on.
I opened the tv and looked around and there are power LEDs lit on SS and SC boards. I am going to check the voltage on P25 pin 9 for 5V tonight when I get home as the service manual suggests.
My educated guess is that something is wrong with the 'A' board since fans are attached to it, menus do not show up, the screen appears lit, SC and SS have power LEDs, and there seems to be nothing wrong with power since TV stays on.
Let me know what you all think...is this a good assessment and I should get a new 'A' board? Is there a test to verify that the 'A' board is the issue? Is there somewhere else I should start? Am I way off and just plain stupid for existing? Any help is appreciated as this is the first TV I have worked on. (I'm a computer guy).
Thanks,
JD
