    Plasma Cracked Screen Question

I noticed that whenever there's a plasma with a cracked screen that the picture stops working along with it.

I know there's the panel itself and then the outer glass. I've never seen a plasma that is cracked only on the outer glass and would still work. And how do the internal panel get cracked if its protected by the outer glass (besides having it dropped hard). Especially with those that have something thrown at it and the glass cracks. Is it possible for plasmas to still work with only the outer glass cracked?

    Re: Plasma Cracked Screen Question

If I remember correctly, the tech who runs the plasmafix.com site has replaced the outer glass on a plasma TV whose panel wasn't damaged: http://www.plasmafix.com/plasma.php I'd imagine that an impact that's strong enough to crack the glass would also impact the panel in most cases.

      Re: Plasma Cracked Screen Question

Some plasma tv's had another glass in front of the plasma panel, older Panasonic, L.G. and others had this. I replaced a couple of them.
If the actual plasm panel is cracked and the gas leaks out, you will not get a picture.

        Re: Plasma Cracked Screen Question

Some newer thin plasmas will show an incomplete image if cracked, which will go away after a few days usually.

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

          Hello,
on this laptop acer aspire v571p the led of the power indicator blinks blue for periods of 1s lighted and 3s off after switch on and this indefinitely.
i tried the hard reset, cmos reset, changing the ram without results.
in order to reach the cmos battery i disassembled the laptop and did several mesures with my multimeter.
The 19v, 5v, 3v are well established after the chip 5v-3v. the following signals : 3d3v_aux_kbc (which supplies the sio chip) and 3d3_s5 are well established also.
but the signals: 3dv3_s0, pw_slp_s3# and pw_slp_s4 oscillate at the same...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
          by Alicat
          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
          by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...
