white vertical line LG 50PQ10 plasma

The white vertical line appears when you turn the set on and goes away after a while. It will reappear at random times while watching tv. Any advice or is it a time for a new set?

Thank you all in advance for any advice you may be able to give.

Loose connector on that part of the panel. Reseat connector. Power must be off while making connector changes.

May I ask which connector you are referring to? I have attached a picture of the back with the cover removed. If you need a closer up one please let me know, and again thank you for your help.

It's under that long bottom black plate (heatsink.)

You need to locate which part of the screen is affected, so take a piece of tape from the white region and wrap it around to the bottom of the TV.

Then remove the heatsink, and reseat all the connector plus its two neighbours.

Then replace the heatsink and turn the TV on again. Note, never run the TV without the heatsink, or the whole plasma panel will be ruined, which is not replaceable!

Did as you instructed and no change. Any thing else to try? Thanks again for your help

What connector did you reseat? You may need to apply contact cleaner. If this cannot be fixed, the plasma display panel is bad, which cannot be economically repaired.

I reseated the ribbon cable connector where the line appears and the one on each side of it

I would give it one more shot, but it looks like you may have a bad panel in some way. You can also try reseating the cable between the logic board (green middle in below pic) and the bottom X boards.

                  (random ramble time)...

If that were a CRT I'd be looking at the line stages, looks like a classic case of line collapse.

But... it's a plasma and I'm still learning on those

Re: white vertical line LG 50PQ10 plasma

I have the same problem on a LG50PS60 and it is not the ribbon that is the problem...for the white line exists within the ribbon ban and is only one quarter the width of each of the ribbon bans you are talking about. Has anyone come up with what is the problem with these plasmas? Another hint or helpful comment is that sometimes when the TV is hooked to a PS3...the line often disappears for quite some time, even when you return to cable TV.

I would reseat and clean all connectors. Mainboard/Ysus/Zsus etc. Could just be dust.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

Ysus or Zsus wont cause a line to go out on the panel. I would say panel failure sorry try reseating the ribbons going to the PDP.
