LG 60PK550 Plasma TV - Bad Picture

Looking for advise on my 2.5 year old LG Plasma TV (60PK550). Not sure how to best describe the picture issue so I've attached an image. If I turn it off and then back on, the issue remains. However, if I unplug the unit for awhile, plug it back in and turn it on, the picture is normal but only for a few minutes. This issue happens on all inputs. Any ideas as to what component could be the culprit? Prior to this, we would periodically see a white vertical line (about an inch wide) on the right side of the screen.

    Thanks,
    G

Am no expert but it could be the y sus board

That doesn't appear to be a Y-Sus issue to me. I'd lean more towards the control board. The vertical bands appear to be evenly sized, which is often a sign of a bad control board.

I'd agree. You can try to eliminate the main board by using the EXT AUTO GEN feature. Simply short the two points marked EXT AUTO GEN, unplug main board LVDS and turn the TV on.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will perform the test in the next day or so. If the issue does not happen during the EXT AUTO GEN test, would that indicate that the control board is good?

The control board was bad. I found a used one on eBay for $15. TV is working great now. Thanks to everyone who had input on this! It's very much appreciated!

I would still need all other cables except the LVDS cable in order too do an auto gen test correct? One of the HDMI's on the main board burned a hole through the PCB, so I don't believe I should leave it connect. Weird thing however is that on this model you don't need the main board installed for screen to (Prime) then fully illuminate when plugged in?

Why not remove Ic701 and test the mainboard?
                      Might get lucky.

Agreed. Ic701 is most likely scrambling the HDMI codec in turn messing up the processor. Remove ic701. Bored should work without it
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I removed ic and cut a line through the HDMI traces and made sure they were not making contact with one another, but the board started getting really hot when I plugged it in. I am currently waiting for a board in the mail.

Sorry I meant I removed the Diode at D7002 as it was burned aswell. I am currently removing the IC you suggested and will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your advice it is much appreciated.

Same result a before, the board became very hot around the eprom and another heatsink on the board was also to hot.

Ok I found a donor tv it is an LG 60PX950. I removed the Z Sus, upper & lower Y Buffers, Y Sus, and the power board and put them in my LG 60PK550 that would turn on with no sound or picture and now it works perfect. The image was a little grainy but once I went through the picture wizard it looks impeccable.
