Yamaha RX-A700 Receiver No Power, No Standby

    Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with my Yamaha A700 Receiver. I got this unit from a friend. It does not power on, no lights, no click of the relay, completely dead. I saw some information regarding the poly/film capacitor being a problem with the standby power board on other models. I replaced those caps and it has not made a difference. Fuse checks continuity. I measured the board connector (AC_PWR, DGND, +5.5V, +5.5V, GND, GND, PRY_IN) while powered with my multimeter in AC, values seemed too high. I'm new to repairs, but if anyone has any idea what to check and look for or has any advice. I'd be very appreciative.

The +5.5V should be measured on DC.

In that case, I'm reading 0.022 to nothing.

        Where's your black probe going?

          To the chassis/shell

That's not guaranteed to be grounded in an audio amplifier; try using one of the GND pins on that connector you're testing.
