    smd fuse question

    Hi

Before anyone shouts at me I know how important it is to get the correct fuse rating, but yesterday I got hold of a samsung with a back light fault, after stripping it down I found that it looks like it has had fluid damage as there was rust and tell tale signs on the top of the inverter, plug 1 was melted to the connector and the smd fuse had blown.

I cleaned everything up and replaced the fuse, the original fuse was 3.15a 74v, I have only got 3a 63v fuses available so fitted one and the TV was playing away fine for 2 hours, it then packed up again.

The question is in reality should this fuse work or will it do what I have mentioned and blow after a short period, or do you think the inverter or B/L may have another fault somewhere.

I was going to pop a 4a fuse in to run the tv for a good 12hours but I dont want to burn the place down

    Thanks for any help

    Re: smd fuse question

Depends on the "blow" characteristic of the fuse more than anything (time delay, fast blow, slow blow etc...) You didn't mention the screen size so we don't know what the current consumption might be. I would doubt the inverter has a fault.
