    Sony KDL-46EX500 solid green screen

    Hello,

i've tried to find something similar to see if it has been answered, but no luck. So here goes. I bought a used Sony KDL-46EX500 from my brother in law, which within 2 weeks turned bad. By bad i mean the screen turned white/purplish. Sound works, can change channels/inputs (blindly), the screen dims a bit while changing channels and brightens up again.

I've given the TV to a repair shop, they held it for a month apparently waiting for a part, which never came, so i took it back. Their quote was something around 200 $ for the repair, and they mentioned that the T-Con was bad.

Now the TV displays solid green. It's been running an hour or so now, at one occasion it started showing a picture, but most parts of the screen were covered in green (top half/corners), while the other part was kind of full with green pixels here and there.

Does this look like a bad t-con board? Because their estimate, compared to the cost of a t-con board of around 50 $, seems a bit much, even taking in consideration that i live in Macedonia and parts are not readily available here and have to be ordered from the UK/US/Asia.

Here's a pic of the TV.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks more like a bad main board to me.

Since the problem gets better over time, it is probably a temperature issue.

So I recommend getting a hairdryer or heat gun and blowing warm air over the boards to see if one particular place makes the problem go away.

Hey tom66, thanks for the reply.

It did briefly show a picture, but maybe for a minute or so, before returning to the green state. It's been running now for 2+ hours, still solid green. I'll try to heat it up and see if that helps, though i doubt it.

Thanks again for the quick reply.

Update: I've managed to capture a video of what it looks like. Seems that after turning the TV on/off several times, it now (albeit briefly) manages to display the picture properly before turning green. Hope it sheds some more light on the issue.

          Sony KDL-55EX500 solid green screen
          by Nopy
I have a Sony KDL-55EX500 which shows a solid green screen and I haven't been able to diagnose the problem. I was able to find a repair manual online and read a few forums on tv repair which pointed me towards it possibly being an issue with the power board or T-con board. Bad electrolytic capacitors seemed to be a common theme so I tried replacing all of the ones on on the power board, but that didn't fix it.

My next step was disconnecting all of the cables and reconnecting them. That helped a bit, showing a normal screen most of the time, but still switches back to solid green...

          LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
          by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

          Then each time...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
