Hello,
i've tried to find something similar to see if it has been answered, but no luck. So here goes. I bought a used Sony KDL-46EX500 from my brother in law, which within 2 weeks turned bad. By bad i mean the screen turned white/purplish. Sound works, can change channels/inputs (blindly), the screen dims a bit while changing channels and brightens up again.
I've given the TV to a repair shop, they held it for a month apparently waiting for a part, which never came, so i took it back. Their quote was something around 200 $ for the repair, and they mentioned that the T-Con was bad.
Now the TV displays solid green. It's been running an hour or so now, at one occasion it started showing a picture, but most parts of the screen were covered in green (top half/corners), while the other part was kind of full with green pixels here and there.
Does this look like a bad t-con board? Because their estimate, compared to the cost of a t-con board of around 50 $, seems a bit much, even taking in consideration that i live in Macedonia and parts are not readily available here and have to be ordered from the UK/US/Asia.
Here's a pic of the TV.
Thanks in advance.
