Picked up a vizio vw42l hdtv10a, works good till it gets warm. then the backlight flickers really fast. Probably a main board issue?

Re: Vizio vw42l hdtv10a flicker problem
Did you order the actual kit, or did you purchase the components individually? Where did you purchase the components? I have Rev 1.2 6632L-0470A and 6632L-0471A inverters. I was going to order the components from Digikey, but I want to make sure I get parts with the correct specs.
Thanks.Last edited by capkid; 04-29-2013, 11:43 PM.Comment

Re: Vizio vw42l hdtv10a flicker problem
It looks like these SMD caps and resistors will work based on physical size measurements I took. I went for a 250V cap and a 0.4W resistor:

I'm still unsure of the appropriate 33V TVS zener diode. Digikey lists quite a few unidirectional and bidirectional diodes with that voltage: Does step 3.5 of the mod instructions indicate that either diode type will work?Last edited by capkid; 04-30-2013, 02:04 AM.Comment

Re: Vizio vw42l hdtv10a flicker problem
I applied the version II mod as part of the fix; it failed after about a week, and I have no sound or picture. At first glance, it appears that a component on the master inverter died.Comment

Re: Vizio vw42l hdtv10a flicker problem
I have replaced 4 caps on the inverter boards. At first no change .picture is now is on but inverters buzzing and some flicker on one side(left). The inverter on that side(slave)seems to be buzzing louder.Any ideas why?It had a very fast constant flicker over entire picture before.Comment

by rajbotHi all:
I have a Vizio E60-E3 I am trying to troubleshoot a no power problem with. Thanks to the help on this board and elsewhere, I was pretty sure I had narrowed it to a power board problem. The board in question is a 09-60CAP0D0-00. Image attached for reference, but not of my board (tv is put away at the moment). FWIW, no obvious looking issues with the board.
I measured voltage at power in and on the fuse and saw 120V, so power is getting to the board.
On the pins out to the main board, I got no voltage at all on any of the pins. I assumed this... -
by theone111I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.
In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.- Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again. - Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.

by fixit007I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.
Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!
Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.
Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick... -
by Zeonalbastai have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double... -
by Pinky DeepakI have a M60-C3 where the left edge has started showing issues as seen in the picture attached. Along with this, I also noticed some darkening on the left half of the screen which went away after I left the TV unplugged. i initially thought it was the led backlight that was wearing out but looks like something to do w the TCONN board. I searched this forum but couldn't find anyone else seeing this issue. most of them were LH/RH completely gone. any insights or guidance is appreciated.
Here's a video of both the issues: https://youtu.be/hMqc760nB3o1 Photo - Loading...
