Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U blinking power/OPC lights

I recently picked up a Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U to fix up from the local thrift store (it's my form of doing puzzles). TV won't turn on when power is pressed. TV immediately shuts off when power is pressed, followed by repeating lights. Power light and OPC lights blink once together, then just power blinks once, and then it repeats. Service manual online doesn't really give any good info, but other Sharp SMs say that the power blinking twice means its a power supply issue. Can't find any schematics.

Now, I'm pretty sure I found the problem on the board. I looked for shorts on the power supply and found what I think is a shorted MOSFET. When applying my DMM to the source and drain, it shows almost 0 ohms. This is all in-circuit testing, which I know it's not the best thing to confirm problems, but the only other thing that could cause the low resistance is a disc capacitor that's in parallel with the source and drain. Not trying to say it can't be the cap, but I think the MOSFET is more likely the culprit.

It has K4096 written on it. Here's the data sheet: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...38d25e7a39.pdf

My question is: Digikey doesn't have this MOSFET in stock (says obsolete), and the only place I can find any for sale is eBay, where the two on there ship from either China or Malaysia. Is there an equivalent MOSFET I can buy and use instead?

    Thanks!

You should desolder that mosfet and confirm it is shorted. If it is bad, you have to desolder it anyway.

I have been fooled more than once with in circuit readings despite my best efforts.

Chat or send an email to digikey. They have live useful folk who can help finding a suitable replacement. Feedback from others who have done this in the past say service is great.

Ya, that's a good point. I haven't had the time until tonight to really take a good look at the power supply. I'll try desoldering and testing in the morning.

Thanks for the tip. I just got done talking to one of their tech support people. They said that while they don't have a direct cross reference to the K4096, they said that this part is the closest match: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksea...ywords=AOT8N50

The Digi-key person said that this MOSFET is like an upgraded version of the K4096. I see that most of the numbers match up or are better (the ones I can understand and think are important like Drain to Source Voltage and Current Continuous Drain), but terms like gate charge and input capacitance are a little different and I'm not familiar with those terms.

That is great service for a midnight call on potentially a 95 cent item.

Sorry, I can't help with all the technical specs.

I can't see a problem with that suggested replacement.

            Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 - Not Powering On - 3 Blinking Lights - 20 volts 0.224 amps
            by bialag
            Hello,

I have a Lenovo here that does not want to power on. The motherboard appears to be clean, no sign of corrosion or obvious fried components. When plugged in, I see 3 blinking lights and then off. It would cycle the 3 blinking lights every 10 seconds or so as long as I have the adapter plugged in. Amp meter shows 20 volts, 0.224 amps, no fan spin, red light indicator near the charge port.

Thermal camera shows a section of the motherboard that is warmer than the rest. It is near the connector labels JRTC1 (CMOS battery). Diode measurement to ground for pin 1 = OL,...

SHARP AQUOS LC-70LE836S only blinking - freebie
            by olegeisler
Got this SHARP AQUOS LC-70LE836S for free - did some basic troubleshooting, and found manual - without detail schematics though. Comes from a meeting room with extremely few working hours.

            Symptoms :

When connected to mains, the logo blinks continously, approx 6 times per 10 seconds.

A press on MENU as per the manual changes this to one short blink, one long and then repeats.

Only 5V ( Standby ) on PSU module present, no AC_DETECT, no 12V, no 13V, no PS_ON from mainboard.

As I see it mainboard has some kind of life, but does not...

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
            by Jane
I tried to use this method:

            Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

Sharp Aquos LC-70C6400U Half Screen Dark
            by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

Sony XBR-75X950G seems dead with a black screen but backlight and sound is working and no blinking red lights
            by Audeze
I have a 2019 75" x950g, and while playing a movie, the screen suddenly went dark in a weird way, where it faded towards one corner into being fully black. Now the TV turns on, and the backlight comes on, but there is nothing displayed except black. Sound still comes through the TV speakers, and i have tried doing a hard reset using the volume - and power buttons while plugging the display back in, but it did not fix it. I can confirm that pressing buttons on my remote is still doing "something" because I'm hearing sound still, even though the screen is black.

            Does...
