• JVC LT-37X688 Stange Vertical Lines Problem

So, I get this JVC LT-37X688 for free on CL. The guy gives it to me and says the TV turns on, backlight comes on, but no picture. I get the TV home and when I turn it on, sure enough, that's what happens.

I open the TV up to see any problems. This is one of those JVC with the pointless bobby-trap photosensor, so I covered it up with electrical tape. No bulged caps, nothing visibly burned. But then I look closer and the LVDS cable was unplugged. I'm thinking "Sweet! Easy fix!" so I plug the cable in and fire the TV on. The picture came on, but had these crazy vertical...

  • Re: Magnavox 32MF301B/F7 blowing fuses

Ya, but seeing how I see four very large diodes all close to each other, I'm thinking the power supply designers decided to use four large diodes instead of an all-in-one bridge rectifier. I'd check those for shorts. And I would check those two big capacitors for shorts also....

  • Re: Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U blinking power/OPC lights

Ya, that's a good point. I haven't had the time until tonight to really take a good look at the power supply. I'll try desoldering and testing in the morning.

Thanks for the tip. I just got done talking to one of their tech support people. They said that while they don't have a direct cross reference to the K4096, they said that this part is the closest match: http://www.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=AOT8N50

  • Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U blinking power/OPC lights

I recently picked up a Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U to fix up from the local thrift store (it's my form of doing puzzles). TV won't turn on when power is pressed. TV immediately shuts off when power is pressed, followed by repeating lights. Power light and OPC lights blink once together, then just power blinks once, and then it repeats. Service manual online doesn't really give any good info, but other Sharp SMs say that the power blinking twice means its a power supply issue. Can't find any schematics.

Now, I'm pretty sure I found the problem on the board. I looked for shorts on the power...

  • Re: Polaroid TLA-04011c Red Light on, no power on

Hey, I just got one of these TVs off craigslist for free so I've been reading up everywhere, including this whole thread, to see how to fix the tv.

My symptoms are: When you plug in the tv, the red led comes on. When you press the power button, a little buzzing sound occurs and the led turns to blue. The backlights come on, but no picture shows. The speakers make a slight buzzing sound while on. And I can't turn the tv off with the power button on the side or on the tv. I have to unplug it.

    No caps appear...

  • Re: Delta DPS-400GB-1A Troubleshoot (xserve)

Hey, thanks for your thread, I was able to try and successfully fix my Xserve G5 power supply. However, I didn't do exactly what you did.

Instead of just replacing all capacitor I could see, I decided to try and find which capacitor was the problem. With the power plugged in, I was testing the voltage on the capacitors with my $2 multimeter, seeing if any were stuck open. As I was testing out the caps near the middle-sized transformer, one of the solder spots of a cap I was testing for voltage started making sparking sounds....

  • Re: Dell 1701FP Inverter Problem

Nevermind. I figured out what I needed. Just had to replace the one diode with the bubble in it and it works great. Too bad the other Dell and BenQ monitors aren't fixable though....

  • Dell 1701FP Inverter Problem

Hey all. I joined the forums last week after finding all this good information on how to fix inverter problems on monitors right after getting 4 LCDs with inverter problems for $12 each: HP 1955, Dell 1701FP, Dell 1702FP, and BenQ FP767.

I've pretty much figured out all the problems with all of them (thanks to you guys), but I'm having a hard time finding exact part matches for the 1701FP. In my attached picture is a stock picture of the inverter board, so you can get an idea.

After finding a helpful person on Fixya for this board, they said to check the D3 and D10...
