Going to look at this one tonight. Thought I'd run it past you all first.

    Main -- T-con setting wrong.
Or if main has been swapped in a repair, wrong main (may or may not be possible to change it.)

I will see if I can get into the factory setup screen and see what happen, the TV is at the recycle right now so I cannot do anything until Saturday.

I just picked it up and got it opened. According to ShopJimmy, the control box is for a different panel.

Looks like I spoke too soon. ShopJimmy show the two control boxes to be substitutes for each other.

          So, what now?

To be clear, the main part number matches what should be in this control box, which matches the panel part number, which matches the T-con.

Do you think a new Tcon would clear this up?

No, I don't. I think the main is the problem, perhaps the EEPROM is corrupt.

I put a used control box from ShopJimmy in it and have been using this TV for a couple nights now. There is still an issue with it. Occasionally, when turned on, there are odd vertical bars on the screen. They show the image, but are a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the image. One time there were three bars, the other few times, there was one bar. It does not affect the bootup "Element" screen (yes it's a Polaroid TV with an Element control box that ShopJimmy sent me) or the blue "No Signal" screen. When the problem is occuring, from the blue screen, if I press menu or input, the menu will appear and the lighter bar will only be present on top of the menu. The bar doesn't go to the top or bottom of the screen, it ends at the edge of the menu. If a full picture is on the screen, the bar goes to the top and bottom. If I turn the TV off and then back on a time or two, the bars are gone and don't come back again as long as the set is on and warm. I'm thinking cold solder joint somewhere because it only seems to happen when the set is cold. This is the second control box I've gotten for this set from ShopJimmy.com. The first one they exchanged because when powered on, no inputs could be selected. Do you think this is another main board issue? I've had the tv open and reseated the LVDS cable at the T-Con but it's happened again since then. I can't reseat the LVDS at the main becuase this control box is sealed from ShopJimmy and it voids the warranty if the seal is broken.

Probably is a main board issue if it did not happen with the miscoloured control box. You should still see those lines same colour if t-con or main board fault with old box.

ShopJimmy is only offering a refund now. I asked the customer service rep why they wouldn't want to see this to the end and if I was supposed to just abandon this project and he told me to call back on Tuesday and speak to one of their techs. Counting this control box, I've received four items from Shopjimmy.com. Three of those four items have been faulty.

On top of all of that, on the return slip that they emailed me, it says "Good/Unused" under condition. It appears that they are blowing me off and planning on putting this box back into their inventory.

                              Order from another supplier?

If I can find one for a price that I like. At least SJ pays for return shipping when an item is faulty. With as many of these as I've seen with bad main boards, what's to say I won't get another dud from another supplier and then have to ship it back on my dime.

Just read a post where I was busting someone's balls for not following up on a thread and it looks like I'm just as guilty. At any rate, I did finally find a main board that fixed this TV.

I've always had good luck with shopjimmy. I did get a dad board once but it had been damaged in shipping. The box was almost bent in half!! Not their fault but they replaced it anyway.
