what would have shorted on this board to cause 5v to short to ground all other voltages show up after pson

Two possibilities:
Bad output diode.
Bad ceramic cap near output.

the cap and resistor show short when tested disconnected but theres still a short on the line

HP Envy x360 13-bf0013dx (i7, 8gb) ipa32 la-m024p rev 1b short near PJ1802, type-c not switching to 19 volts

Laptop is HP Envy x360 13-bf0013dx, hp website link, it's an i7-1250U with 8 gig onboard ram.
Platform: ipa32 la-m024p rev 1b

Originally you'd plug power supply into it and it would take up to 1.2 amps and then drop to 200 milliamps and then go back up again to 1.2, staying all the while at 5 volts. Pressing power button would results in power LED blinking amber 3 times. 3.3 volt rail, 5.1 volt rail present, main power rail 8.8 volts. Power button test pads near EC chip 2.7 volts.

I found a short on the other side:

PS5 digital / No Power / No Beep / Good power supply

Hi everyone,

Brought a non functionnal PS5. Apparently only a bad PSU...
No beep, nothing.

After some tests i found this :
- PSU is fine (12 volts stable)
- 12 volts line is shorted
- DA9065 was fried, F7003 also => Replaced both of them, short is gone on 12 volts line, no dead short anywhere else.
- By the way, nothing change. No signal, no power, no beep.

Mesuring all rails with my workbench psu (12 volts input)
- 0.00 amp drawing
- 12 volts, 5 volts, 2 volts, 1,15 volts are presents (suppose new DA9065 do is...

ASUS FX505DV no power shorted at PWM controller Pin 3 VREG3 TPS51225C, need pinpointing of the short.

Hey guys,

i've got this laptop from a friend who gave it to me in a dead state.

The laptop wasn't working at all so i've began my search on the 19V power rail.
It was shorted to ground so i injected voltage and the only thing getting hot was my ground clip from my power supply.
I found that the +1.05V Rail for the Chipset was shorted. i removed the coil and it was shorted on the power delivery side.
The pch seems fine bc the rail has over 50 ohms after i removed the coil.

Still nothing was getting hot so i suggested the chip must...

Shorted inductor means short circuit? Asus ROG Gaming laptop.

I have a dead Asus ROG gaming laptop with liquid damage. When I measure the first mosfet, there is 19V. On the second mosfet there is nothing on the input and 4.3V on the output but it is not continuously. It is going up and down.

Is it through that inductors can never be shorted?

I have 2 inductors near the GPU that are shorted. Does this mean that the GPU itself is shorted? How can I know for sure?
