    Samsung 59" PN59D550 Plasma - 2011 Model - Small green/orange vertical line

Hello, I have a PN59D550, 1.5 years old and used lightly. Recently I noticed on the left-to-middle of the unit there is a vertical line. It changes color from green to orange and is apparent in all inputs/OSD menus. Some cases after 30mins-1hr of use the vertical line seems to become dim or disappears. There is no physical damage to the unit and no one touches or moves it.

Can any one tell me what the problem could be? I am trying to decide if it is worth repairing. Hopefully maybe just cleaning the cables might fix this or something cheap like a board? Thank you

Most likely, the plasma panel (glass) is defective and it is not economical to repair.

Thanks for the response. If the panel is most likely the problem, what would be second if it wasn't the panel? Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no second. Single pixel line defects are essentially always the panel -- and they cannot be fixed. Samsung are well aware of these issues, but refuse to fix them unless you are within the 12 month warranty period.

I have the same tv with the exact same problem. My tv is almost 3 years old and it has vertical lines. About a month ago the lines would only stay 10-15 seconds and now they stay on for over 5 minutes. They seem to go away after the tv warms up, but I am sure it is only a matter of time until they stay on for good.

Hey tom is this primarily a contact issue with the cof for which a n/c manifests itself in a line like above ? Shouldn't it be possible to apply some pressure like can be done with a tab bond failure ?

Maybe. Never tried it myself. Worth a shot for a nice plasma.

                Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
                by TrueSword88
                Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

                Hoping to fix...

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
                by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

Samsung UE58TU7100K - no picture, vertical line
                by mrsith
                Hi.

Got UE58TU7100K with no picture - backlight comes on though. Figured out that's a perfect candidate for cut tape method.

This model has just one LVDS tape coming off main board - and two panel boards underneath the LCD screen are connected to each other via small tape. Like curved screens. I've tried to disconnect half of the screen (5he side without LVDS connector on it, obviously), no joy.

Disconnected the tape (main board side). Applied a small piece of tape, covering first ~4-5 pins. Powered the TV on - got picture. In negative, but that's...

                Dear All,

VIZIO M60-C3 Can the vertical line be fixed?
                by tmhobadcap
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....
