47OFHDTV10a 47 inch Vizio. Screen went out this morning. I have power and front vizio logo goes from amber to white when turned on. The remote still turns it on and off and the I can still hear sound. Pulled back and see that the caps on both backlight converters seems to be leaking. Can I replace these caps or do I need to replace both boards. Also since both seem to be bad does these mean I might have a larger problem with another board? Thank you.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
ay I have a greater admiration for those that know what in the heck they are doing. Update. I ordered the caps and did my best at soldering. Now for some stupid questions.
1. On surface soldering, Is there a hole for the pins or am I just soldering to the spot on the board?
2. How do I check the fuse?
Below is the picture of my soldering techniques. No laughing please.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
Nothing wrong with that soldering. There aren't any holes on the board to solder to. May want to use flux cleaner but that's not critical.
The fuse - check the resistance across it.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
Sorry, I wish I could help. I got mine from a local distributor. The one I got is round with axial leads (one lead coming from each end). I bent the leads square like the caps and soldered it to the board. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge will chime in with a suitable replacement.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
I am so heart broken and frustrated. Thanks to all of you I got my tv up and running. Replaced caps and fuse on backlight converter board. Gave thanks and yelled a couple kick a*****. But then when I turned tv upright to put back together the bottom metal rack fell down before I got it screwed in. It pulled the wires out of the connector to what I think is the power supply. I could push wires back in but there are a lot and a lot of the same color. Does anyone have a close up picture of where the wires are supposed to be or have any idea where I can just buy a new wire. It would have been nice if Vizio could have used something other than a thin orange clear tape to hold the wires in the clip.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
Check for a part number on the cable? I don't know VIZIO but best of luck.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
This website is so kick butt because of people that respond with help like you. I have learned so much and people are just blown away that I was able to fix the 37 inch and hopefully now the 47 inch. Thanks for the info.
I will admit that in most posts I still have absolutely know idea what the heck people are talking about.

Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace
Anybody have some actual schematics for the GV47LFHDTV10A Vizio sets? All I can find is trouble shooting service manuals.I need actual schematics that show what parts connect to what on the main board, plus the audio board and anything else you have for this model? thanks in advance. I've not had this set to work on it in awhile so I can't tell you the main boards part numbers and if I recall right this model can use more then one main board. The set's been stored away for awhile now but I love to fix it the damaged main board and replace the Eprom. Anybody know where I can find the Eprom for it that's already been programmed for this set?
