  • Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace

This website is so kick butt because of people that respond with help like you. I have learned so much and people are just blown away that I was able to fix the 37 inch and hopefully now the 47 inch. Thanks for the info.

I will admit that in most posts I still have absolutely know idea what the heck people are talking about.

  • Re: 47 inch vizio cap or replace

I am so heart broken and frustrated. Thanks to all of you I got my tv up and running. Replaced caps and fuse on backlight converter board. Gave thanks and yelled a couple kick a*****. But then when I turned tv upright to put back together the bottom metal rack fell down before I got it screwed in. It pulled the wires out of the connector to what I think is the power supply. I could push wires back in but there are a lot and a lot of the same color. Does anyone have a close up picture of where the wires are supposed to be or have any idea where I...

I have replaced the caps and still no picture. BUT when i tried to test the fuse when TV was on the pictures showed up. So I am guessing it is the fuse. Does anyone have a link to where I can buy the 10 amp surface fuse that the Master has on it. Thanks

ay I have a greater admiration for those that know what in the heck they are doing. Update. I ordered the caps and did my best at soldering. Now for some stupid questions.

    1. On surface soldering, Is there a hole for the pins or am I just soldering to the spot on the board?

    2. How do I check the fuse?

Below is the picture of my soldering techniques. No laughing please.

Thank you everyone for you advice. I ordered some of the caps from digikey so i guess we will wait for them to arrive and then see if i can solder them in place. i will give a update once that takes place. But again, thanks to all that took time to help.

Actually it looks like the burn occurred exactly where the rivet is in the second picture. could those have come in contact at some point to have caused this?

Thank you for your responses. My one other question is why would it burn right there. It seems to have arched to the metal plate behind it attached to the tv. There doesn't seem to be any wiring where the burn took place on the board. Is this something common?

I love to try fix things myself. I guess the thing is broken so what would it hurt. Where can I find the caps? Is it something I can find locally (indianapolis) or need to order. Thank you for your response.

  • 37 inch Vizio smell and screen dims to black

VO37L FHDTV10a Smell came from back of TV and the screen blurred to black. After letting it sit for a awhile the screen kinf of came back on then blurred to black again. The TV power will come on and the vizio light on front turns from amber to white with both the remote and the side button. It still has sound. when I pulled the back off I saw this burn mark on the backlight converter. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this or do I just need to replace the board? thank you

  • 47 inch vizio cap or replace

47OFHDTV10a 47 inch Vizio. Screen went out this morning. I have power and front vizio logo goes from amber to white when turned on. The remote still turns it on and off and the I can still hear sound. Pulled back and see that the caps on both backlight converters seems to be leaking. Can I replace these caps or do I need to replace both boards. Also since both seem to be bad does these mean I might have a larger problem with another board? Thank you.

    2 Vizio's down

Okay I have just spent the last two hours combing through all of the information in this forum. I have to say that quite a few of you are very impressive in your knowledge. But unfortunately most of the information might as well be in Latin. So I will try to explain my problems and hope that someone can help me.

37 inch LCD Vizio V037L FHDTV10a TV Power comes on with sound and light bar going from amber to white. The Screen shows a portion of the TV and then goes black. Strong smell came from back of TV. Took TV apart and on the LCD back light converter (see I did some reading)...
