HI everyone i have been brousing the net to see if anybody has had the same problem as me with there LG tv,

The problem i have with mine is as follows, No sound coming from the TV just a pop when the tv is switched on, the HDMI connection wont work anymore, the fuctions on the side of the TV dont work anymore and finally it takes an age for the TV to come on when switch on,

can anybody tell me if i change the psu board this would cure the faults i have, is the Psu board also know as a pcb borad,

The 3.4V on the power supply often fails (low output) causing this. I have repaired this same model, UK version, which had no sound, intermittent power up failure, and Freeview (digital TV) / HDMI did not work.

i stripped the TV down after getting a selcetion of capacitors, there were 3 witch were bulging at the top. 2 @ 3330uf 9v and 1 @ 1000uf 9v, I could only replace one of them that had blow out (1000uf @ 25v) i have got the sound back, but now the tv turns off intermitantly and not HDMI working,

i will let you know how i get on when i get the 3330UF @ 25v,

p.s is it ok to put a ltle higher voltage cap on, as i have read this in other posts i have seen

Unfortunately, capacitors from Maplins are almost never suitable for power supplies due to them not being low impedance; typically they're only general purpose.

Other supplies like Farnell and Mouser can provide capacitors that are OK for power supplies such as Panasonic FC/FM/FR and Rubycon YXF/ZLH/ZLJ/ZLK.

You can also order them from eBay if you are careful to avoid fakes, supplies like semtech1 and hmcomp seem to be genuine sellers, in general avoid buying capacitors from China as there are a lot of fakes coming out of there at the moment.

just looking on ebay and i can not seem to find a capacitor that is 3330uf can i fit a 3300uf? thanks for the advice on the capacitors

I can pretty much guarantee the original is 3300uF, no one makes a 3330uF. Before you order please link us what you are ordering so we can be sure you are putting the right caps into it.

You can post it here, you do not need to send me a PM. Rubycon are good caps (1st place shared with Panasonic IMO) - but they also make general purpose caps. Make sure you order low esr/low impedance Rubycon.

They look fine to me. Check the dimensions will fit the board.

i finaly got the new caps as you instructed me too, i have replaced them and the TV now works fine HDMI works, sound is back and the set is now stable, i dont know if its me but the picture quality is loads bet than it was also

Glad it's all working for you. You probably haven't seen it working in some time... I doubt bad caps would make the picture poor. But enjoy it anyway!

And yet another reason why all capacitors should be replaced with high quality ones.

Hi I've got another problem with the same TV but I'm sorry I can't workout how to put a new post on the forum

The variable audio output on the rear of the TV set no longer works can you give me any advice what I can do to get it up and running again?

Both L and R channels? Check TV Speaker setting from user menu.

If I turn off the Tv speaker off I do get the sound coming through a headset/headphones but I feel shaw the sound came out of the tv and the headphones both together.


Yes it is both left and right channels

Hmm, hate to suggest a "bodge" but could you use a 3.5mm to RCA cable hooked up to the headphone port? On the Samsung LCD at parent's house that can be controlled from TV volume control.
