Samsung 46 lcd model ln46b650 powers on normal and plays relatively great then after 2 to 3 min it starts getting vertical lines or strips of color down the left side in 3 or 4 in wide band, right side half has a grid like pattern in everything on it, its real clear but the grid is in background of all colors. Turn the tv off and back on and clears up for a min or two, then after it does it again turn off and back on it will clear again for a minute. Eventually the discoloration and vertical bands appear probably three quarters of screen after watching 15 min or so. The only thing i have tried was went into factory reset mode with tv off pressed menu 182 then power and was in service mode and hit factory reset.

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
I have opened the panel and disconnected and replaced all ribbon cable. Took the frame off lcd and checked the tab bonds and found nothing that would make the screen change by pressing on them , went ahead and applied something to put pressure on them and reinstalled the frame . No change. These tab bonds are on the bottom , i dont know if these give trouble like the ones on top. Unplugging the tcon board on one side or the other would change the picture some. I dont know where to go know i have a grid like pattern in the whole screen. lines are horizontal about 1/4" apart in the background of colors and then i have the groups of bands 3 or 4 wide in multicolors running vertical. Should i try the tcon , i will put pictures on here tonight. -

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
Heres pictures of the black screen when the dvd player was in standby, the panel is upside down and what your looking at is actually mainly on the left side. The colors start faint and as the set is on longer more lines and colors develop in the same way, there is also a gridlike horizontal pattern in the background of everthing with color, the grid is not visible in the black.Comment

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
The colors are in different spots sometimes there are two or three groups on the left side and then it kinda spreads out nearly half of screen and then sometimes i get vertical bands of colors on the other half they are in groups kinda 3 or 4" wide. The whole time ive got these grid lines running side to side that are about 1/4" stacked all the way anything with color. You can see it in my picture in the color look for the side to side lines. The whole image plays a blue ray nice but with all this stuff in it. I have flexed the screen and even put spacers making pressure on the tab bonds at the bottom, that is not the issue. What do you think. Im ready to order some parts but these are a bit pricey compared to the insignia i fixed last week, trying to make sure im getting the right thing.Comment

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
Well if anyone can help me i have a full chronilogical picture set showing what happens in 15mins time of having the tv playing. See attachments
Pic 1 shows when i turn it on its good for about 20 secs then this starts
Pic 2 you can see the horizontal lines through whole screen and colors
Pic 3 shows how its affecting menu or on screen displays
Pic 4 blu ray disc after about 10 minutes on lines spreading on screen
Pic 5 the longer it runs now at 15 minutes colors and lines spreading across
Pic 6 weird color pretty much all over and screen taking on white haze look
Pic 7 pic of line at bottom that appeared after 20 minutes.
After cool down it goes back to the way it looks in pic 1 and starts the progression toward pic 6 all over again in about 5 minutes time.
What do you think? Lets fix it!Comment

Try cooling the T-CON board using freeze spray or use canned air duster upside down and see what happen. If you flex the panel, does it do anything?Never stop learning

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
Well i will get the cooling freeze spray tommorow and try on the TCon board
i def feel like as it heats up it gets worse. If i flex the panel it makes no difference. Anywhere on the Tcon board that i should freeze specifically.Comment

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
I would spray 1/4 section at a time, spray and wait for 10 seconds or so to see if it has any affect, if not, move on to another 1/4 section.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
Sprayed Tcon board and it had no effect. Changed picture none. I did have the tv in my shop today that was about 40 something degrees farenheit all day and when i turned it on it had no vertical colors in it until it heated up but had the grid like horizontal lines in the pictures right when i turned it on.Comment

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
I am pretty sure this is a tab bond failure.
The reason I do not think it is the T-con is because the T-con is inherently digital and only supplies the LVDS data and clock to the individual panel drive packs.
I need to post a more detailed "theory of T-con", when I understand more about what the TFT ON and OFF voltages can do, as I don't understand what they are used for at the moment (other than turning on and off pixels I guess.)Please do not PM me with questions! Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
The picture does not change when flexed and i applied foam tape and spacers on the tab bonds pressing them firmly , messing with the tab bonds have no effect on the picture. Remember this is a screen with tab bonding at the bottom, i dont know if that makes a difference. This is a LTF460HF07 panel i think that is a Samsung brand and not an inferior brand. Are they common for failure.Comment

Re: Samsung 46" lcd ln46b650 vertical lines and a gridlike pattern on right half
That is a Samsung panel. Samsung panels have a great picture but very high failure rate. Even if the lines are not fixed by the tab bond repair, there can be other faults with the panel that cause this. Though I have heard of a low TFT supply voltage causing this: have you checked the VON and VOFF voltages on the T-con? They will be marked as gold test pads. Please do not PM me with questions! by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesnβt display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by ItalianSatHello Everybody,
I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.
Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.
Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally... -

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :
I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

by FirentiosiThanks for offering your assistance with this. I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.

by viking509I recently replaced the led backlights with LB65041 LED Backlight Strips and after putting it back together the backlights work but there are only colored vertical lines only in the center of the tv. I can see the Netflix logo (jumbled) after a minute or less the screen went dark. When I turned it on again the lines were back. Then I replaced the t-con board but the same vertical lines in the picture. My question is what is my next step? Could it be a source tab bond issue? A buffer board issue? Could I have loosened a connection to the panel when replacing the backlights? Should I replace the...
