The unit has power, has backlight, and screen initially shows a grey color, then has colored veritical lines along the left, right, center of screen (moves and varies as time passes), then after about 15 minutes the picture comes on and stays on for hours, as though nothing is wrong. Any ideas?

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
My first check point would be to reseat the LVDS cable. This is the cable running from the main board to the t-con or LCD panel. Pictures will be necessary if you require further help or assistance in locating the LVDS cable. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
I removed the LVDS cable, lightly sanded the copper contacts on both ends, blew off any dust, reassembled......its still acting up!!!...although it now only takes 10 mins to get the picture!!!Comment

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
Starting from cold try heating the boards (gently) with a hairdryer to see if it comes
a bit quicker. Try the power supply board first (caps) . If it comes on quicker let it cool
and try again a section at a time to try and pinpoint. Pictures might help us.
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
One other point: after it is up and running and I shut it off (and it is presumably warmed up), I turn it on and it acts the same way....it takes about 10 mins to get the picture. I will still dry the hairdryer though.Comment

Great! stop trying to mend it and start to make a nice highly polished wood box - mount it in that and sell it as a nostalgia tv. When my dad got our first tv crt and valves they all took 10 minutes to get goingPlease upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
You're a genius!! Heating the power supply did the trick (but I heated a wide area)! It will be tough isolating the specific area on the PS as it is so small and the hairdryer ends up heating a fairly wide area. I will (1) turn it off, l(2) et it cool, (3) heat a small area of the board, (4) turn it on see if it works, then repeat 1-4 untilI can isolate it.
Speaking of old TVs, I have a 1964 black and white RCA in my basement....not sure why though!!!Comment

to narrow the area i use a cardboard roll from a kitchen tissue roll just aim the heat down the tube usually works okComment

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
I have narrowed the area to where transformer LC306 is located (see photo). Heating the caps made no difference. I've turned it off and let it cool then reheated LC306 about 3-4 times and I get a picture immediately. So do I replace PS or try to replace LC306?Comment

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
Ok - I dont know but heat only usually affects a transformer in that it has cold solder joints - Suggest you take the board out and resolder it - remove the old solder and apply new You may of course be able to see something when you get it off.
Other possibilities are the components next to it Resistor? Red Cap ( That actually looks a bit fat?) then the three on the heatsink.
Try a partition to keep the heat off the transformer and heat the other parts.
Transformers are usually not replaceable ( blast forgotten the word but they are made specially for the board manufacturer to specs for that board and not sold )
Edit word I forgot is proprietaryPlease upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
Hmm - Just looked further out - does the Big cap have a bulge or is it just the pic.
It may just be a plastic end piece - can you press it in?
Afraid Ill have to leave you to it - signing off for the evening.Last edited by selldoor; 03-02-2013, 05:06 PM.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
It seems like it is the resistor, the grey component. I isolated and heated each of the components in that corner and everything points to the resistor, the grey component. Does that make sense? Its definitely not the transformer or the Red cap as I'm pretty sure I did a good job of isolating those components while heating the resistor.Comment

Re: Insgnia NS-LCD26A:have power & audio, video comes on after 15 minutes
After more testing, I believe its the red cap. I did more isolation to ensure I was only hitting it with the heat and not the other components and heating it solves the problem. I have been turning on the TV from a "cold start" the past 3 hours and it is starting right up which it was only starting after heating the red cap....so I don't know what I did but it seems to be fixed. If it acts up again, replacing the red cap looks pretty simple. Is that what you would suggest?Comment

The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.
The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...2 Photos -
by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

by ItepKHey everyone!
I've gotten this TV for free, neither have it seen a TV repair man, neither have it been opened before.
This post describes my entire troubleshooting process of this TV.
When I turn it on using the ON/OFF switch at the side of the TV, the light rapidly flashes green, then it stays on, but it does not react to any of the remote buttons, side buttons, and doesn't play audio.
I've taken the unit apart, and I've started to check some voltages:
- On the P11 connector, there is 15V DC only for a brief moment, then it goes

by SolarFlareHi,
My barely 3 year old TV has stopped displaying video, although the video output comes for a few seconds after turning ON which displays the manufacturers logo then shows the home screen (all this with some blue flicker) then the video goes blank and the screen is dark blue with the backlight on. The audio output works perfectly and the TV also takes in voice commands(smart TV).
The TCON board has the following Chips -
Samsung VTU63A0
RT6939 - 2nos.
and all these chips are getting real hot within a minute, I dont know if this is normal.... - Loading...
